Been botherin' me a lot for the last couple of years that, on the one hand--as the courts have said, clearly and emphatically, and as we've all been taught our entire lifetimes--that "ignorance of the law is no excuse." However, the people who have the "power" have made no provisions for the "comman man" to come to "know" the law. (Conclusion here is, of course, if "they" really, really wanted "us" to "know" the "law," they'd make such part of mandatory public education, and so forth. Dorothy, wake up."
We've been indoctrinated in a culture which has beaten into our very souls the concept of an unquestioning loyalty and patriotism--i.e., faith--in our "government." Yet how do despise the same thing in those other evil and "oppressive" governments.
