West Law and Court

Found this reading another forum and wondered if anyone had any info about it: (originally posted mid 07)

If you want to see a federal court case get dropped in a hurry, just sue West Law, the publisher, for incorrect information. Happened here in Western Washington about 3 years ago.

Cheers,

Thom

Please provide some more details about that case.

This is news to me. I know that someone tried suing WestLaw (one word) about twelve years ago because he didn't like what was said about him in a court decision posted on WestLaw. But WestLaw won because of a sort of derivative of judicial immunity.

The point was that the judge couldn't be sued for what he wrote in his decision, and therefore West (or anyone else who reprinted the judge's decision) couldn't be sued for what was in the decision either.

Who "gave" "judges" "judicial" "immunity?"
