Adoption?

Does anyone have anywhere they can point me to information to do an adoption myself? We spoke with a few blood suckers... I mean lawyers and the average around here is $1,700. that sounds rather expensive to me. I figure someone here may know something about this, thanks.

What the hell does a Lawyer have to do with Adopting a living baby? Unless you want to register a Corporation that is...then I recommend going to the Companies Office.

I think he means exactly what he implied: Private Contract. Its the supreme power of a sovereign (even more powerful than the constitution).

Citizens A/B transfers, conveys, grants title and all rights to the child; and quits all claims thereto to Citizen(s) B/C without recourse or warranty. ..

get it signed, notarized and published and its a done deal, i would think.

No... not really. POA is a specific kind of contract. I said "Private Contract".

Do you know what a "Guardian" is ?

I had one. Both parents lived in one state and I lived in another with my "Guardian". That was a private contract.

It does include some aspects of POA ... but there was a bit more to it.

Speaking in terms of adoption -- start with the basics of "Guardianship" and go from there.

I am a stepfather wanting to adopt my stepson. it appears i will be at this for sometime.

If you are a stepfather then you already fill the shoes of a guardian . . . but it is "assumed", not concrete.

Keep us all informed of what you find in your research. Others may still chime in with suggestions. And you never know, if you share what you find, you might help another remember some info you might need.

Is the childs father still in the picture ?
