Loophole to get rid of a speeding ticket?

I just got a speeding ticket in MA two days ago. My co-worker told me to do the following to get out of paying it:

-------------------

- Go to the town's court house within 10 days of receiving the ticket with two witnesses.

- Tell the clerk that you are there to see the judge about the citation

- Because you showed up within 10 days, you will not be in the (system? database?); the Clerk will not be able to find you, and you will not be able to see the judge.

- Instead, you will sign an affidavit saying you showed up to court. You're witnesses will need to sign it as well.

- By showing up to court, you fulfilled your legal obligation, and since the judge never saw you, the citation is taken off your record.

-----------------

Is there anything to this?

Don't do it young person.

Paquito,

Welcome, but you don't want to do this approach.

It will be a waste of time, and will accomplish nothing.

Instead, look at www.ticketslayer.com.

You can read the success stories on this board to tell you that works.

This ploy will only make things worse.

The traffic ticket requires you to show up in court on the date specified. Ditto for a summons, continuance, court order, or similar document. On the date specified.

Going to the courthouse to talk to the clerk on any other date is just loitering in a public place.

Not showing up on the date specified in the legal document (ticket, etc.) may result in a default judgment against you, a warrant for your arrest, etc. Nothing pleasant.

Yes. Your co-worker is trying to get back at you for some nasty trick you pulled on him or her.

Watch your back.

I think what paquito's co-worker might be eluding to is that on the ticket where he signed his signature that is within it's own box which makes that box not part of the rest of the document.

On a ticket that I have in front of me the box states.

Quote:
WITHOUT ADMITTING GUILT.
I PROMISE TO APPEAR AT THE TIME AND PLACE INDICATED BELOW.
X SIGNATURE____________________________
then in the box below it states.
Quote:
TRAFFIC-YOU MUST APPEAR ON OR BEFORE_________AT THE CLERK OF SACRAMENTO COURTS 301 BICENTENNIAL CIRCLE BLA BLA BLA BLA.
The word to look at is appear.
I have not been able to find that exact word in a law dictionary only the word appearance. Obviously a differernt use of the word appear. With a different meaning.
The only definition I have found is in a Websters universal unabridged dictionary(1936)
Quote:
Ap-pear- To come or be in sight:to be in view:to be visable.
What I am getting at is that by signing in the box is that I have only promised to appear in court on such and such date that is written below.I did not promise to do anything else,Answer questions in regards to anything else on the ticket above my name nothing else on the ticket pertains to me.
It also states in the box below that you must appear on or before so by him showing up before the date specefied he has fulfilled his obligation to appear.

Coments?

Cheers,
Craig.

PS. Paquito welcome to the forum.

What law, code or statute specifies this? With all of the crap that passes for law these days I can easliy see someone needing to make a trip to be sure.

Guns, clubs, handcuffs, shackles, manacles, cages, funny costumes, domination, submission, pretty kinky.
