This is the opinion the article was referring to. I just couldn't find it until today.

Gun Control Cites and Code

Hello gang

In the first post under section 22. ---- Federal relief, civil rights restored it states as follows:

Federal provision for relief of federal firearms disabilities was not equivalent of state procedure for restoration of civil rights for purposes of federal firearms law providing that any conviction for which person has had civil rights restored shall not be considered conviction for purposes of possession of firearms by convicted felon; existence of federal provision for relief of federal firearms disability merely provided alternate route by which convicted felon could have his right to carry firearm restored. U.S. v. Geyler, C.A.9 (Ariz.) 1991, 949 F.2d 280. Weapons 4

I was convicted of a federal felony in South Dakota in '94/'95. Does anyone here have any advice on what I would have to do to get my civil rights restored?

Thanks in advance

Tom

I believe folks with federal felonys can do an administrative petition of some kind to the ATF for the restoration of the "civil right" (ha) to own firearm.

I am not sure the exact procedure but would enjoy seeing discussion on this, as I believe there are a lot of folks out there like Tom who can and should have their civil rights restored, but just need to know the process.

Why even bother with civil rights? Slaves have civil rights, free man have inherant rights. You have rights inherant to you as a human being to defend yourself or your property by any means necessary. And besides, if you have no social security number, and are not a U.S. citizen, there is no record of anything you have done anyways. You are a free man, with rights to do absolutely anything you please provided it does not harm another man or woman or their property. I dont care if you want to buy a damned rocket launcher, nobody has any authority to prevent you from owning one.
