right to remain silent

In court last week (not for me, someone else). What an education.

"Routine" traffic-thing. 87 year-old man, drinking and driving, caused a "vehicular crash." Cop takes the stand. Gets into the he said-I said bit. After about 10 minutes of this and answering questions from the commonwealth attorney-rat-faced-jerk, the cop says:

"Then I arrested Mr. Whatever and read him his rights."

My wife, Lisa, hit me because she knew I was about to lose it. Too late. I did. In a loud "whisper," I made sure to point out that everything that poor old man has said to the cop BEFORE he was "officially" arrested and& mirandized WAS used against him, blah blah.

God, I get SO mad!

P.S. When I was arrested (there was a warrant my arrest) unpaid ticket.) He never read my rights! Anything I could do about that?<o

And that is the kind of no-respect-treatment you will get everytime when you do things the "poor old man" did.& Once you are in the bully-pit (court)&you can expect nothing less than to be bullied.& And if you hate lies,&you should do everything in your power to avoid&attracting the policia's attention, because&if you don't, you will be pulled over and sucked into their world of&LIES. &

His "Honor" continued, but one of the sheriffs (damn, they keep a lot of cops in traffic court!) told me "NO talking in the courtroom!"

Here's part of the source of my anger towards them/it/BB/the system/whatever:&I expect/demand to be treated with the same courtesy/respect THEY "demand" in their precious courts. I know: Dorothy, wake up.

Paul, I swear I don't. Because the FIRST thing I noticed is that there was NO court reporter/stenographer, nothing, nowhere! How can one "appeal" anything when there's no official public record of the proceedings? Yeah, Lisa hit me...again...when I "pointed" THAT out as well.

And yes, in one case, the defendant and his rat-faced-bastard lawyer brought their own stenographer and no, the judge did not like it one bit, but he "allowed" it.

It would sure make a great letter to the prosecuter, wouldn't it? Sort of a "By the way, I just happened to think of something...."

Speaking of your "right" to remain silent ... any one catch the blurb on one of the "news" shows this week, 20/20 or Nightline, regarding, "Do you have to give the police officer your name/license"& I looked for the info on the show, but did not find it.& Was interested in what was presented.

A barber asked his attorney-patron about it in the chair and he responded that "that was all you had to do"& hmmmmm.

Thanks
