Re:A funny story

A business must be registered with the SoS of your state in order to conduct business within the state.& If not... they are hit big time.

Check with the Secretary of State for the business listing of any collector attempting to collect an alleged debt.

Ice

The situation was about a moving violation.& If I understand what you are saying is even the Superior Court of Calfornia County of Sonoma is required to be registered with the Secretary of State?

nralien,

If you have a chance, you might want to watch the James Hardin videos about court here:

Re:A funny story

True dat about out-of-state collectors. VA Dept of Tax turned our stuff over to one of these critters a couple of years ago. Wrote them exactly what y'all said, that they'd damned well better be licensed to do business in the state of Virginia. Poof! Gone.

(Wish I'd recorded the telephone conversation I had with the jerk from that company--before we made him go away. He literally demanded that I pay within thirty days. "Hold your breath," I said. The next sound he heard was Ma Bell: "Click.")
