My cross complaint has too many pages!

Does anyone know off the top of their head if there is a mandatory limit of pages for a complaint or cross complaint? I looked in my local court rules for here in California but can not seem to find anything.

Are you cross filing in State Court or Fed?? The Fed offers handbooks for pro se as well as the Rules... which gives details about length and form... right down to the type and size of font.

If you can't find it online... then give the Clerk a call.

Thanks Ice! I am cross filing in state court with an attached State RICO complaint California Penal Code 186. I have dug through the Local Rules but can't seem to find anything. Guess I will have to call them.

Thanks!

They are probably using this against you: (From NC's Rules of Civil Procedure)

Rule 8. General rules of pleadings.

(a) Claims for relief. – A pleading which sets forth a claim for relief, whether an original claim, counterclaim, crossclaim, or third‑party claim shall contain

(1) A short and plain statement of the claim sufficiently particular to give the court and the parties notice of the transactions, occurrences, or series of transactions or occurrences, intended to be proved showing that the pleader is entitled to relief, and

Notice they don't specify what "short" is.

Another thing is that you want to state only your claim. Put your "arguments" or "points" that support your claim in your Brief to the court.

There may also be a limit on the pages of your Brief... you might remember to ask about that also.

dash, foor what it is worth, i learned from juris doctorate Fred Graves to use only one subject & 1 verb in your counts

See if you have a count w/a compound sentence, and there is one that is on yet another that is off, then they can deny the whole count because the false or off statement makes it deniable.

The on statement gets tossed to the wind because it wasincluded in the count.

This also helps the judge read it better because they hate reading
