Jury trials introduce a level of complexity simply due to the fact that you have to convince multiple adults of diverse backgrounds, education and feelings that your view of what took place is true vs. the facts presented by the opponent counsel.
Juries won't help you with matters of law (oaths and jurisdiction, etc.) - there are carefully drawn guidelines on how judges provide instructions to the jury and they all rely on the traditional rule of law where juries are the triers of fact and the judge is the trier of law.
So if you're challenging the law and not the events, a jury isn't going to provide you with any advantage or disadvantage.
