quick lesson if arreseted or being charge in court
I have to admit that I think there might be a little something to this technique.
I don't totally understand what all Hakeem wrote there (or copied), as I skimmed over it pretty fast, however, I do remember the way the judge reacted when I started to go that route.
His answers to the questions were all "No" which surprised me (I was already shaking in my shoes as I've never enjoyed being in court, probably because I've had no good experiences there, so I didn't expect this one to go well either, and as it ended up, it didn't end up a "win"...on that day).
He did give me his name. He, however, silenced the attorney when the attorney objected and wanted to speak up.
I then went off the script and asked if he knew of anyone who had a claim against "the person charged" and he jumped right into his paperwork and claimed the STATE had a claim against "the person charged." The judge appeared to know what I was doing, and wanted nothing to do with it until I brought up the "person."
After I got off "script" the judge told me I wasn't being "charged" criminally. That threw me, so perhaps the "script" was out of place (the hearing was for the registration of a foreign support order).
Or he was testing me to see how much I understood what I was doing. Thanks, Hakeem, for posting the explanation.
Peace,
Paul
