Jurisdiction

Maybe this was posted somewhere else and I missed it, but could somebody help me out with jurisdiction? I understand what the word itself means, what I don't understand is all the differant kinds of jurisdiction there is, such as in personim jurisdiction and the like, or what they all mean. If anyone can help with a website or just writing it out it would be a great help

Only sovereigns have jurisdiction. Are you a sovereign? If so, what do *you* have jurisdiction over?

Nope, jurisdiction is authority of any entity over the control, in a certain aspect, of another entity. PG&E is quasi-public utility and they have jurisdiction over their line poles, underground facilities and buildings. California has jurisdiction over the CONDUCT of corporations and in this sense has jurisdiction over PG&E. Sovereigns control the conduct of the state and in that sense has jurisdiction over the state's CONDUCT, but not PG&E facilities.
Original jurisdiction usually resides in the creator of an object. If you believe God created you then you would have been created under his jurisdiction.

To explain it different. Fire districts are called jurisdictions. if you live in say Oekeynokey Park fire district you are in that Fire Departments jurisdiction and tha department would control fire supression for that district.

Water districs, municipalities, counties, states, people, corporations, pets, everything could have jurisdiction/contol in some manner.

Jurisdiction is a BROAD word.

Yes only sovereign has ULTIMATE SUPREME and INDEPENDANT jurisdiction. However there are many kinds of more limited jurisdictions. The word jurisdiction has many levels of power and meaning,,, all the way up, and all the way down. Once you take it out of the strict legal context you should see that the definition I gave is just about right.

Quote:
In law, jurisdiction (from the Latin jus, juris meaning "law" and dicere meaning "to speak") is the practical authority granted to a formally constituted legal body or, or to a political leader to deal with and make pronouncements on legal matters and, by implication, to administer justice within a defined area of responsibility.--------------From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

And here is what I said:

Jurisdiction

Many thanks to everybody for responding. I have been on a search frenzy since I got a PM a couple days ago. The amount of different ways that they use the word with the meanings they attach to it, to be able to control EVERYTHING is absolutely ridiculous.
