Yes! And now there is a "Banc of America." Get a load of that.
Bank is also defined as the seat of justice. And all the judges of a court together are "in banc"

This is a bit anecdotal, but once I was sitting in traffic court and was listening to an arraignment hearing for an assault case and the magistrate referred to the crime itself as a "transaction". That really opened my eyes as to the nature of the court!

i recall learning tha the Bank of America was originally incorporated as the Bank of Italy.
