Are we better off living in a troubled world?

Lets say that, hypothetically, we lived with a perfect government, which had no undue taxation, completely respected our privacy, and did everything we wish it would do to create a better, freer America. What then? What would we do? Would we really be happier, with nothing to bitch and complain about in government?

I'm beginning to think we're really happier fighting a battle against impossible odds, wondering where the next attack is coming from. It is in times of great disaster and peril that true heroes rise up from the ashes to form the legends of tomorrow. I want liberty and justice for all, more than anything else in the world, and yet if I had it, I'd have nothing left to desire, nothing of consequence to do, nowhere to lay my footprints in the sands of time. So really, as bad as it gets, I see it as an opportunity for greatness, and its somehow comforting to know we live in a troubled world, because it gives us all purpose in our lives, without which we would amount to nothing. Yes, it would feel great to be absolutely free, but without a battle to fight, life would quickly become boring.

So, I invite struggle, embrace change, and accept all the danger and occasional sorrow we face, with great hope and anticipation, because these are the cards we are dealt, and its up to each of us to make the best of them, because the harder the struggle, the more glorious the triumph.

Raptor,

I have considered the same thing in recent years. I think of my life before I took a red pill. It seems rather boring, actually!
I too welcome adversity for the opportunity to have clarity or at least more clarity and maybe even a victory over my selfproclaimed masters. But, I would rather see a world where my and others' energies could be spent developing free energy such as power from tap water or air or whatever. THEN, we could look at really big seemingly impossible goals like a village on the moon, or effortless flight, or cleaning up the earth in places that can only value food and shelter because it's all they have...maybe.
I mean that some places on earth, including America to a smaller degree, really have no "excessive funds" to spend to scrub their waste water before it enters their rivers or ground water. Thus, they die from dysentary and other inexcusable diseases.
Right now in America, most of us eat, work, and have shelter enough that we can take on the govt to a certain extent if we choose. I sometimes think the govt thinks it has all the marbles and doesn't want to share(like cool technologies). Thus, it's gotta keep us in skirmishes, crises, and courts so we don't wake up.
Well, just my thoughts on it. I don't see massive resolution before massive slavery personally. But I know Who holds the future. Thus I'll be faithful to declare at every turn my freedom.
Boy, I sure hate it when a cop is a selfproclaimed "Christian" thinking he is God's soldier...but that's a different thread I imagine!
