Gunmanship

Man, I suck at shooting. I need to get a .22 Mag and start practicing to get over the mental blocks. I was out in the desert this past week w/ a .357 packed w/ 158 grain hollow points. The kick wasn't bad, but it was just the thought that it would be too loud is what gave me a mental block thus making me miss.

Mental block huh ......now I've heard everything. Why not just blame it on the gun why don't ya.

What I like to do is just use a pump bb rifle and get a stack of targets. My targets have numbers in each ring. I count the bullseye as 10 pts. the 9, 8, 7, etc out to the edge. Each shooter gets 3 shots and you play about 5 rounds and then count up the points.

The barrel is rifled but it's still just an air gun. The bb does go wacky every now and then but it's consistent enough to get better at aiming. I got a rifle with a scope too. That makes it more fun. Just trying to steady that thing on the center is a task in itself.

I have always wanted to try skeet shooting. I wish there was a place around here to go.

One of my favorite online games to play is called 'Call Of Duty'. It's a first person shooter game. You are a soldier in a WWII battle. It's your team against the other team. You try to see who can get the most kills before the time runs out. Sort of like digital paint ball. You have an assortment of WWII weapons including MP 44, Thompson, Pssh, Springfield sniper rifle, .45 pistol, panzer faust. Oh yeah, you can hop into a tank and terrorize the enemy camp too. Thats a lot of fun. The tank has a main gun and a coaxial 50 mm for mowing down infantry. Be warned...this game is highly addictive.

Exclamation guns

okay folks. Sovereigns still have both the need and the right of self defense.

Proper targetting involves taking a few deep breathes, then letting out half the last one , centering the target, and firing. Suggest you folks read http://www.fredsm14stocks.com/rifles.asp. This is practical information in an area that every sovereign worth their salt needs to pay attention to.

You might try something as simple as ear plugs. Back when I used to shoot every day I would just use one ear plug in my left ear (as I am right handed, right ear if you are left handed) to quiet the noise. But I LOVE the sound of guns going off (does this mean there's something wrong with me?)

At any rate, glad you had a safe trip.

Nope, there's something wrong with me. I just have to keep on till I love the sound. I think that's what the block is

My favorite gun advice goes like this:

"Gun Control means using both hands."

Up here guns are above every front door and are used for grocery shopping.

I like it!

You should read the novel Unintended Consequences by John Ross

Here's a link to it on Amazon:

Yea, a First Person Shooter

Weis, perhaps as suggested by Kaos..perhaps a 'puter game, with the Volume UP..might help...or, just gotta go shoot'n more often...my 14yr old son had no prob grabbing the .357 & .45 when we went out awhile back...put in some ear plugs, relax...and squeeze off...for now, just get used to the feel and the smell, and of course the "noise"..accuracy will come with time, practice, and knowing your gun(s).

If ya ever get a chance to fire a Desert Eagle .50...don't pass it up!! WOW Factor off the Chart!! Makes a .45 seem like a pop gun.
