Talking Haynes SUCK!!

Just wanted you to not have too high of expectations from this manual. It is severely deficient. From the manual for our 1990 (chilton) to the 1996 haynes, it is night and day different. Less follow thorough, fewer explanations etc etc. I defer to my other half for the electronic gadgets and gizmos on these machines! Our daughters learned simple car repair and troubleshooting before their drivers license!

So Weis, if ya need a hand.. ya know where to find me, I'll hook ya up.

First "gearhead" car -- 1967 rag top camaro, powerglide.
SEcond, '69 hugger orange camaro SS -- oh, to have them now!!

My brother has a '69 chevelle in tear down -- I don't think he'll ever get it done!

Dang Pat, you gotz a pretty sovereign family there. What you guys need next is all diesels and make your own biodiesel. I have some websites for some recipes, bty

The Chiltons repair CD looked awesome. Only 20 FRNS

I hear so many mixed opinions between the Haynes-Chilton Folk.

The electric problems I have are bad. The stupid "ding Ding" sound when you have the key in the ignition when the door is open goes on continuously when driving.

I found the fuse for it and pulled it out.

Too bad the odometer, speedometer, windshield wipers don't work when that happens. If you know any "Ragin' Ranger-heads", ask them. It is fuse 25 on the fusebox of a '96 3L.

I would like to just find the wire & snip it, but I am having trouble reading the diagrams

Personally I use www.alldatadiy.com I have found a lot of usefull info. I was able to print out the directions to change the actuator motor on my 94 cougar. It was a $20 part but $800 in labor to remove all the stuff in the way. So I feel this web site is a wealth of info. More reciently I replaced the water pump using the same web site. One of the most important aspects is the recall notice. They will check to see if there are any recall or service bullitens for your year make and model.

Yes I am a gear head I have a Mustang that I used to drag race for about 3 years and before that I used my Yamaha Fazer.

Seeker, you're awesome. Or, at least, you were when you had a camaro.
Right now my pride and joy is my 53 desoto powermaster, seconded only by my 65 baja bug, which actually makes a better daily driver at this point:

Weishaupt, if you really want learn auto mechanics, I suggest you find yourself a gearhead neighbor to work on stuff with. I learn the most from the old guys round here who worked on cars their whole lives. And definitely find an forum/group/local car club for whatever car you have--its amazing how much assistance I've gotten from other desoto owners.

As far as manuals, my HAYNES bug manual has worked WAY better than that stupid chiltons. BTW, if anyone needs a bug manual, I need to get rid of my chiltons. never used it, never gonna.

And forget biodiesel. Its all about supercarbs and/or waterfuel.
