I like how she sunk into obscurity just like the Titanic. (Thanks, FED for reminding me of that tune. ARRRRRGH. Now I've gotta put on some tunes to flush that one out)
OR .. .
Is she really back, again??
I haven't been watching TV or listening to the radio lately

I can remember when I had the Tesla remake of Signs stuck in my head for weeks, literally! For some reason I just couldn't get it out.
I decided to psycho analized it and figured the subject of the song is obviously mentally disturbed. Or maybe I am for having this in my head for such a long time!
SIGNS
And the sign said,"Long-haired freaky people Need not apply."
(Obvious inferiority complex.)
So I tucked my hair up under my hat And I went in to ask him why.
(Wants to question and harrass the one doing the hiring.)
He said, "You look like a fine upstandin' young man. I think you'll do." So I took off my hat and said, "Imagine that. huh, me workin' for you."
(Deceptive and untrustworthy. Not willing to be accepted by others. Doesn't believe he should earn a living.)
Whoa, sign, sign.Everywhere a sign.Blockin' out the scen'ry. Breakin' my mind. Do this. Don't do that. Can't you read the sign?
(Complain, complain, complain!)
And the sign said,"Anybody caught trespassin' Will be shot on sight." (Just a property owner wanting to be left alone.)
So I jumped on the fence and I yelled at the house,
(Does not believe in private property, seems to think your property belongs to everyone. Does not believe in personal privacy.)
"Hey! What gives you the right
(It's mine?)
To put up a fence to keep me out,
(Damn right! It ain't yours!)
But to keep Mother Nature in?
(You've got to be kidding, keep mother nature in?)
If God was here, he'd tell you to your face, 'Man, you're some kind of sinner.'"
(Now who's the sinner here, the property owner or the one that would strip him of his property if he could?)
Sign, sign. Everywhere a sign. Blockin' out the scenery. Breakin' my mind. Do this. Don't do that. Can't you read the sign?
(More whining.)
Now, hey you, Mister, can't you read? You got to have a shirt and tie to get a seat. You can't even watch. No, you can't eat. You ain't supposed to be here.
(Doesn't believe he should follow anyones rules but his own.)
The sign said, "You've got to have a membership card To get inside." Uh.(Believes he can trespass anywhere.)
And the sign said, "Everybody welcome. Come in. Kneel down and pray."
(Oh, finally, something I am allowed to do.)
But when they passed around the plate at the end of it all, I didn't have a penny to pay
(So, you think you have to pay to hear Gods word. And why didn't you accept that job offer earlier? Maybe you wouldn't be a freeloader.)
So I got me a pen and a paper And I made up my own little sign.
(What a damn hypocrite! Complains about all the "signs" then makes one of his own.)
I said, "Thank you, Lord, for thinkin' 'bout me.I'm alive and doin' fine."
(If this fellow knew anything about God he would realize that God already knows how he is doing. Unless his god is the preacher man. And from my view of things, he ain't alright!)
Whoo! Sign, sign. Everywhere a sign. Blockin' out the scenery. Breakin' my mind. Do this. Don't do that. Can't you read the sign? Sign, sign. Everywhere a sign. Sign, sign.
(Back to complaining about all those signs right after he made one of his own.)
And to think this song was really popular. It seems so******tic to me. Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention, I really hate this song.

JWR, that was an awesome expository analysis of definitely one of the worst songs in history.
In fact, I really hate that song with a passion for personal reasons, too
I was in a working local rock/dance band and our manager insisted that we do that God-forsaken song until we finally gave in just to shut him up!!!
I definitely have blocked the chord changes to that piece of mediocrity out of my memory banks for eternity
All I do is remember that it was in the key of "G"

Keep in mind folks, those two songs, by WAR and Five Man Electrical Band, are laced with truth. Those two songs do have what people call the hook in them. The hook is the reason why they are hard to get out of our heads.

Only people who fit MY perception of "normal" -- need apply. All you others are just kooks and freaks. Don't think or color outside the lines!
So I tucked my hair up under my hat And I went in to ask him why.
(Wants to question and harrass the one doing the hiring.)
Wants to see if there is a valid reason WHY someone would have to "look" a certain way to 'qualify' for a job.
He said, "You look like a fine upstandin' young man. I think you'll do." So I took off my hat and said, "Imagine that. huh, me workin' for you."
(Deceptive and untrustworthy. Not willing to be accepted by others. Doesn't believe he should earn a living.)
See, it ain't looks, it must be something else, cause, looky here -- I just happen to have long hair and you just told me what a fine upstandin young man I am! And I obviously could execute the job you have available, if only I 'looked' like you do.
Whoa, sign, sign.Everywhere a sign.Blockin' out the scen'ry. Breakin' my mind. Do this. Don't do that. Can't you read the sign?
(Complain, complain, complain!)
People attempt to 'block' the truth by throwing up signs, everywhere to push their reality onto everyone else by diverting attention to their views. Labels! Conformity.

(Now who's the sinner here, the property owner or the one that would strip him of his property if he could?)
Okay, this one I kind of agree with, BUT the point he is trying to make (IMHO) is that property owner (corporations?) put up fences to keep regular folk from 'seeing' nature as God intended -- again altering the view, to adjust perception and reality -- sound familiar?
Again, goes back to following the 'norm' to be 'accepted'. If you're different, you ain't welcome! Fit our mold or go away.
The sign said, "You've got to have a membership card To get inside." Uh.(Believes he can trespass anywhere.)
Come on guys, 'Membership card"? This is an easy one -- can you say "elite"? As in GW and his good old boys club?? Keep the masses out and ignorant -- we are SO much better than they are.
And the sign said, "Everybody welcome. Come in. Kneel down and pray."
(Oh, finally, something I am allowed to do.)
Finally, a place where everyone is accepted regardless of their 'look' etc. HOWEVER -->
But when they passed around the plate at the end of it all, I didn't have a penny to pay
(So, you think you have to pay to hear Gods word. And why didn't you accept that job offer earlier? Maybe you wouldn't be a freeloader.)
[]Who is demanding payment for praising God? The long-haired freaky guy, or the "organized religious mafia"? How else would they survive?
So I got me a pen and a paper And I made up my own little sign.
(What a damn hypocrite! Complains about all the "signs" then makes one of his own.)
I said, "Thank you, Lord, for thinkin' 'bout me.I'm alive and doin' fine."
(If this fellow knew anything about God he would realize that God already knows how he is doing. Unless his god is the preacher man. And from my view of things, he ain't alright!)
Nope, I see that he is doing the proper thing by accepting the 'offer' (of payment for the service) and putting across a Novation -- and offering a note of thanks (didn't your momma ever teach you?)
Whoo! Sign, sign. Everywhere a sign. Blockin' out the scenery. Breakin' my mind. Do this. Don't do that. Can't you read the sign? Sign, sign. Everywhere a sign. Sign, sign.
(Back to complaining about all those signs right after he made one of his own.)

Now see, that just goes to show ya that music, as in art, is all in perception.
