I've tinkered with slapping. It's way cool! I'm more of a rocker, so I don't get to slap a whole lot. Although, I always try to fit in a few pops when I jam. During Twilight Zone by Golden Earring, I add the pop (C) during the chorus ("When the Bullet Hits the Bone........." I also add a pop during the bass solo of Mental Health by Quiet Riot (G). When I play this song with my friend's band, they play this part of the song for a few more bars and let me have it. So, I can pop, but not slap.

Thanks for the link. I'll check it out.

Thumbs up Got Thumb ?

You want to keep the thumb arched the whole time. The motion comes from your wrist only & NOT your thumb muscle or thumb joints. The thumb should contact right on the neck where the neck ends.

Do not slap just on the strings.

Been tinkering with it some more recently. LOL........I tried it on the Low B string and oh my God what a rumble.......LOL! I get a lot of fret buzz too when I slap this string. It's too funny to just slap the Low B string and just let the amp buzz away for a moment. I can't wait to blow up my 60-Watt amp so I have an excuse to buy a bigger and better one.

But anyways........

I'm having fun trying to learn to slap.

Smile Slap Happy

Keep the thumb stationary & arched.

The instant you flick your wrist, you want the thumb to bounce off of the string right away(recovery)
