Marriage license

I am getting Married 8/8/08 and my parents and my finace's parents do not attend church. Our families are christians. My grandfather was one of the original founders of THE ASSEMBLY OF GOD church in Lincoln city, Oregon, I have not attended the church since I was about 13 and they helped my sister run away from home. I know I do not need the staes premission to get married, but how do I find someone to preform the ceremony, with out a license?

You can start by contacting Pastor Matt Trewhella at Mercy Seat Christian Church. He doesnt marry couples under State license, he may know of minsiters in your area.
Here's the contact link for the church.....

You could also try Googling the subject and come up with leads as well....

Best wishes,

IMHO. Any clergy that is not a 'member' of any of the 501c3 churches would be capable of performing the ceremony 'in the presence of God', and it would be a valid marriage (in the eyes of God).

The attachment of the state, as you may already know, is the 'hook' used by the state to allow you to have benefits and protections offered by the state, with an obligation on your part to adhere to the state regulations.

I would start my search, by calling churches and simply inquiring first of all whether or not the church is a 501c3. Normally, any of the churches that are, will have a supplemented title, such as 'Inc.' It may not be advertised on the billboard out front of the church, but if you check with your states Division of Corporations, you should be able to find a list of all 501c3 registered businesses across the state.

Good thinking on your part. Don't make any attachments that are not necessary; and in the case of 'DEVOUT' Christian beliefs, there are none that are necessary.

Jerry

Marriage contract

I'm new to all of this and what I post maybe incorrect, but it can stll be looked into. I heard on a cd from the american's bulletin as a guy named Sean David Morton briefly spoke about what he and his wife did. I guess the marriage contract was drawn up by he and his bride to be. They also mentioned 501 (c) (3) churches, so I think you want to stay away from them.

YES, great thinking on your part!

ACTUALLY, a christian marriage may be performed by ANYONE you desire. It could just be a friend or aquaintence if you feel you need someone to lead you in your vows.
ULTIMATELY, a believer doesn't require anyone to "perform" the marriage. You could say your vows in front of two witnesses and record the signatures in a bible.
This has been done for hundreds of years before any state has deceived couples in to including it in a contract.

Check around, you can always find a Universal Life Minister ready willing and able. I used to specialize (it just happened) in biker weddings in the woods. It's more fun when the federales aren't a party to the party!

just use your best man. The tie that binds isn't the dude saying, "you may kiss the bride", but the love between. look at gene simmons and shannon tweed

P.S. Congratulations
