Why would you want to have anything more to do with her?
She has already reamed you once.

Got some information for you...
First...
MRG... She didn't leave ME, she left the state of NY because she was having troubles there doing midwifery. I don't know the details as I haven't delved into her personal life that much.
Now... back on subject.
Another friend of mine sent a couple of links, the first will be to a home birth forum. The second is to a midwife college, could be good for more information. And the third she insisted that I post, sounds kind of funny, but it's a breast feeding map, broken down into states.

Did I say she left you, or did I say she reamed you?

Perhaps I misunderstood.
My sincere apologies for having taken the thread off of the subject.
Given the above, sure, definitely, by all means, in fact, continue consulting with someone who you say DID, in fact, " back us into a office to have what seemed to be a "intervention" of sorts."
Again, my apologies for misunderstanding the nature of the midwife's actions as described by you in your post.

Hi,
Thank you all for your input so far. However no one seems to have a answer to the question. So I will pose it another time.
Point blank, does anyone know if it is illegal to have a home birth in NYS?
Yes or no ?
Thank you!

O.K. Why do you care what the law says??? Did God tell you its illegal to have your baby in the manger?
I can see they are already trying to control the baby even before the birth.
If they scare you find a midwife across the state line.
Live your life free, stop listening to them and listen to the word of God he will guide you.

aaronkukla, and weapon71x
I apologize to both of you.
I just realized I mixed up which of you was which, and responded to weaponx as if he was aaronkukla.
Again, apologies.
I tried looking online for New York State home-birth laws, but couldn't find anything firm.
From what I have gathered it does not seem to be illegal, but regulations make it difficult if not impossible to have the assistance of a midwife at home without the midwife having to leap through a series of "legalistic" hoops.
Again aaronkukla I apologize for mucking up your thread.
And again weaponx I apologize for confusing you with aaronkukla, which also helped mucked up the thread.

You are absolutely correct and I thank your advice. I was just curious about the law that's all. I was completely surprised that we were treated this way, as though we are criminals. I also didnt want CPS showing up at my door! Thanks again to everyone for all your help!! And just so we are clear, we are going to have a unnassisted child birth, no doctor no midwife. Just ourselves and one or 2 immediate supportive family members. I will post our results!! =)
Any ideas about the birth certificate and SS # ?? I have read some stuff here but I am still uncertain how to proceed.
