Approbation

I saw where David Merrill had done an approbation on the Treaty of Paris.

I need to know the full use of the word "Approbation."

For instance: If one has a Family Bible with their true (Christian/Given) name in it, and they get their parents to "Approbate/Approve" the same, stating that the record is true and complete, and of paramount authority against all other records, and then that is recorded at the Clerk's office, that would pretty well seal the deal on what one's name is, right?

Thanks for any response,

Henry Franklin

validation.

Indeed I have an approbation to the Treaty of Paris and Declaration of Independence. So far as I know it is just voicing approval. Also the Continental Congress allowed for people to "sign" the parchment without having their signature on the parchment through approbation. A suitor did some searching around and found about eleven people have done so.

Validation of your name is possibly a good idea. I am not sure if that is what works. I just know my name. But I did what you are talking about.

Another thing. When the district court or defendant in relation to the Libel of Review sends a letter addressed to the true name in upper and lower case lettering; the suitor typically files the envelope at the clerk and recorder. This is publishing the testimony and recognition of the man or woman by true name.

David Merrill.

Thanks for your response. Can you point to where the Continental Congress made that provision? (For signature through Approbation)

Thanks,

WITHOUT PREJUDICE
For some reason, me thinks its the stuff of parliamentary rules.

***insert***

RATIHABITION, contracts. Confirmation; approbation of a contract; ratification. Vin. Ab. h. t.; Assent. (q. v.)

Looks like approbation's ~= appro[v]ation ~= approval.

upon closer look.

It was no formal provision. There are signers who were not present on the Fourth of July. And so the provision was constructed by practice.
