How can i find out if any cases exist for not filing required homeschool reports?

let me put this more properly:

i'm wondering if anyone has ever been charged in a state (like NY) for failing to file required state reports for homeschoolers. if someone could 'point me' in the right direction for where to search it would be appreciated.

to be honest, i'm not even sure if there's a specific 'crime' on the books for this or not.
