Miranda Rights/Applied?

In the following:

"You have the right to consult an attorney before speaking to the police and to have an attorney present during questioning now or in the future. Do you understand?"

The mention of police; does this mean only the police? "...to have an attorney present during questioning now or in the future." Does this apply in a court room, like in a hearing setting?

Just curious.

Yes. Anytime you get questioned by ANYONE (including your mom, but especially pUBic officiousers); you ask them if your reply can be used against you.

If they answer anything OTHER THAN JUST Y or N, it is not a responsive answer and you object on those grounds.

One of their fave non-resp answ is "this is a civil matter"

then ask, well is it possible for a civil matter to become criminal?

Then remind them that you are not an attorney and need to consult w/ counsel before answering that question.

Remember, you can't just generalize it, you sometimes have to do that on each question
