arthritis pain-cause and relief
Does anyone have research on any topical or herbal remedies for the relief of arthritis pain ?I have been told, that part of the reason for people suffering from arthritis is /are amalgum/mercury tooth fillings , and chlorinated/floride additives in our water supply , lack of calcium ? If that is true, then with what material should mercury amalgums be replaced, how can we get water that's not chlorinated/florided ,and what testing method shows lack of calcium ? Is anyone knowledgable on this ? Thank you , james

The best way to clear up arthrithis is to eat lots of fresh raw fruit and vegetables.
Arthrithis can be cause by by toxins in the body and the wrong kind of calcium.
You can drink distilled water you make yourself.
Waterwise has a fine product for distillation.
Also a juicer is a good investment.

Removing <u>all </u>animal products, especially everything that is a dairy product, is probably the most likely method to eliminate arthritis, including its cause and consequence. Removing a mere 50% or 99% is not likely to do the trick however since the arthritis reaction is not proportionate to the amount of animal products you consume. Once you’ve removed ALL animal products out of your diet – read EVERY ingredient list very carefully! – you should begin to get relief in about 10-12 days and from then on it should keep getting better and better. Why not give this approach a very careful 3 week trial at the very least? That way you can prove the results for yourself while getting firsthand proof!
As to heavy metal toxicity there may be something to that concept as well. IV EDTA-chelation therapy is reported to relieve arthritis at least in some cases. What chelation does is to remove metals out of your blood and body, e.g. mercury, lead, and calcium lodged in soft tissue where it shouldn’t be.
When you remove your amalgamated mercury from your teeth, the best filling to use reportedly is porcelain. Be careful though to get a knowledgeable dentist who will take care to make sure you do not get acute mercury poisoning from the mercury being released in the process of removing of the mercuryfillings! If you do chelation therapy in immediate conjunction with the removal of the amalgam this too may prove helpful..
As to fluoride, the greatest offender is most brands of toothpaste, fluoride mouth washes etc. Get rid of these first!
<u>Remember a complete food consists of the following five (5) food groups:</u>
1. Nuts and seeds
2. Fruits and berries
3. Vegetables
4. Whole grain products, e.g. brown rice, corn, whole grain breads and pasta. (Minimize as much as possible the proportions of white refined flower in the various products! However, its difficult to bake without using some white flower so don’t be too dogmatic about using only 100% whole wheat bread.)
5. Legumes, i.e. beans and peas
Get a good variety of each of the above and you won’t have to worry about anything else, e.g. calcium, vitamins, minerals, protein, etc. etc.!
In addition to the above you should make a point of avoiding hydrogenated fats and oils, e.g. margarine. Also stay away from foods with added sugar, fructose, etc. Naturally you should stop alcohol, smoking, tobacco, coffee, tea, chocolate, and any other artificial stimuli!
Lastly, don’t get discouraged if you don’t feel like you can make all these changes all at one time. Doing things one step at a time is a very great principle. What each step entails must be your own decision! However, the results will correspond to your changes…

So far, I agree with everything that has been stated in the above posts. The only missing ingredient is pure water in sufficient amount. The rule of thumb is to drink 1 ounce of pure (non-chlorinated, non-flouridated) water for every 2 lbs of body weight per day.
Arthritis, as well as a host of other so-called ailments or dis-eases is the result of an increasing accumulation of acid formations in the body. The lack of sufficient water allows the acids to accumulate at higher concentrations than are normally quite easily handled by the body when there are sufficient water reserves. It is these acid accumulations that destroy cells and begin the degenerative processes.
The food guidelines stated in the previous posts are generally more alkaline-reactive (the opposite of acid) in the body and serve to both prevent additional acid accumulations and/or neutralize the acid formations of normal cellular metabolism. However, I have found that clinically, even the best diet in the world will not totally negate acid formations and the disruptions to optimal health and function in the body without adequate water availability. This is primarily due to the planetary environment in which we exist.
Most all chemical reactions that take place in the body on a daily ongoing basis at the cellular level have an acid formation as a natural by-product. By eating primarily the foodstuffs espoused by the previous postings, one may reduce the additional amount of additional acidity that lingers when there is insufficient water available. However, it has been my experience with thousands of patients, that by simply increasing the daily amount of pure water intake, even with a diet that one might consider to be acid-forming, there is significant neutralizatiion of the acids and result in relief from the symptoms of the dis-ease that has been created by them.
This is not to say that if one drinks adequate amount of water that one can 'get away with' a poor diet. There is a basic law of overload where the organism may not recover should the amounts of acids produced totally overwhelm the organism's capabilities to neutralize them.
So, basically, what I am espousing is the 'high alkaline-forming foods' diet in conjunction with adequate pure water intake (as described above), 30 or more minutes per day of as much skin exposure to the sun as possible (without the neighbors taking offense), as much fresh air (although I don't think there is any left on the planet) as possible (yoga-type breathing is helpful here), and movement of the body for 30 or more minutes per day in the form of some type of exercise.
Through the almost 30 years of my practice, I have witnessed quite miraculous changes in people who have used the above guidelines.
The only other thing I would mention - if you suffer with a 'chronic' or 'severe' dis-ease - I would seriously consider being a bit more aggressive. By this I mean that one should look to perform or undertake an aggressive cleansing protocol. Start with the colon and progress thru the liver/gall bladder, kidneys/urinary bladder and spleen/blood forming elements.
This will 'prep' the body, result in an intense removal of acid formations, and create a more receptive environment for the previously discussed lifestyle changes to have their optimal effect on healing and strengthening.
Hope this helps!

Thank you Dochand!
I agree with all your practical recommendations. Very much so! Nevertheless I have this to say about your rational/theory/thinking:
Animal products generally have an acid reaction in our bodies. When we remove animal products out of our diet this will reliably give us better health. One could draw the conclusion from this fact that acidifying foods are causing disease. However, I believe this is a false conclusion. There are many other factors in animal products that cause disease, perhaps most of all oxidized cholesterol, which is reported to be a primary cause for microscopic injuries on the inner walls, “the intima,” of the blood vessels. Indeed, this oxidized cholesterol may be the necessary ingredient for the formation of atherosclerosis and atheromatous plaques anywhere. (Oxidized cholesterol may thus also be the primary cause for all cardiovascular disease.) Oxidized cholesterol is formed whenever animal products are stored for any length of time outside of a living body… Notice that homogenization of milk destroys the fat cells structure (the micells) in the milk such that the cholesterol in milk is much more easily oxidized. Altadena Dairy is said to have some research reports on the topic of homogenized milk and increased incidence of heart disease. (If someone has this report, or the exact reference to it, please share!)
Once animal products are removed out of the diet, most foods have an alkaline reaction in our bodies. Grain products have a mild acid reaction. Cranberries and lingonberries have a stronger acid reaction. The curative effects of these acidifying foods on urinary tract infection are well recognized. I’ve seen firsthand how arthritis patients have become sicker and sicker when following the dieticians advice to avoid grain products, cranberries, and lingonberries, and how quickly these patients have recovered once this bad advice is reversed and the patients resumes a diet rich in wholegrain products and the said berries. Furthermore, I’ve learned from the research of Virginia Livingstone-Wheeler and the staff at her San Diego clinic that acidification of the blood is essential for the reversal of cancer and other chronic illnesses associated with the microorganism named PC (Progenitor Cryptocides) by Virginia.
Thus, as you see, I do not buy into the teaching generally promoted re acidifying vs. alkalinizing foods. The rational for my stand is briefly outlined above. What is important is to correctly connect cause and consequence, to figure out the correct causes and act accordingly. Often times our rationales - our attempts of explaining the chains of events between cause and consequence - are faulty and needs revision. I believe the common teaching on acid vs. alkaline foods is an excellent example of such false rationales.
Your thoughts…

Hi Andy!
Thank you for your thoughts. This is a good discussion that I hope all on the forum will at least take the time to read through. There are as many thoughts on nutrition and disease as there are people who are willing to discuss them.
You have obviously also spent much time in research and have obtained positive clinical feedback regarding the implementation of your belief systems and observing their results. This is how it should be. Thoughts and beliefs are useless if not proven in the clinical setting. Something may 'sound' correct and be sound from a logical point of view, but be totally useless in the clinical setting - where it counts most.
I am familiar with the xanthine oxidase story regarding the milk subject that you mentioned. I don't know if this article may be of assistance, but it does discuss the subject somewhat:
http://www.rogerkyoung.com/old/cowsmilk.html
You state:
"The curative effects of these acidifying foods on urinary tract infection are well recognized."
I totally agree. However, my understanding is that the reason that these work is 2-fold. First, the urine pH is usually 'extremely' alkaline. These urinary acidifying foods will neutralize the excessive alkalinity that has caused the burning. Second, urinary tract infections are usually the result of a deficiency in alkaline electrolytes that allow a consistently more excessive lower pH or acidity of the urine. It is the consistently higher acid urine that allows one's tissues to become more susceptible to infections from any pathogens (normally present and kept in check most of the time anyway), that include the alkaline-producing pathogens.
You state:
"...acidification of the blood is essential for the reversal of cancer and other chronic illnesses associated with the microorganism named PC (Progenitor Cryptocides) by Virginia."
I am not familiar with this approach. However, it is my understanding that the body will do everything possible to maintain the blood pH at 7.4. It will use the available electrolytes, primarily sodium to buffer any acid pH movement. With sodium depleted, it will move to other electrolytes, such as bicarbonate and calcium to perform the buffering. Since, as I said, I am not familiar with this treatment, I fail to understand how the homeostatic buffering system is prevented from performing its job. Your assistance in helping me is appreciated.
Thanks for the continuing discussion.

Thanks Dochand,
That website about the xanthine oxidase in homogenized milk and Bovine Growth Hormone and IGF-1 as used to increase lactation in cows was quite interesting and educational though not exactly the article that I mentioned above which I am looking for. It arouses a question in pursuit of the relationship between xanthine oxidase and oxidized cholesterol… Thank you!
You are making me put on my thinking cap in re to some other things as well. Let me share my point of view:
The buffering systems of our bodies are certainly most effective and wonderful indeed, aren't they! Only under very extreme circumstances of unhealth, e.g. diabetic ketoacidosis, severe hypo- or hyperventilation, will the pH change significantly in the blood. On the other hand, what is very normal and very common is that the pH will vary considerably in the body excretions, i.e. in the urine, body cavities, and sweatglands. There are several very effective buffering systems in our bodies that contribute to this situation, but perhaps the carbonic acid buffering system is the one most generally familiar?
Let’s look for a moment at the sodium salt which is in a way central to the carbonic acid buffering system, i.e. NaHCO3. This particular sodium salt, NaHCO3, has both acidic and alkaline properties in that it can both give and receive a proton, i.e. H+. If you add H+ to this salt you’ll get H2CO3, whereas if you remove H+ from NaHCO3 you’ll end up with Na2CO3, which is sodium bicarbonate. Thus, as you see NaHCO3 has both acidifying and alkalinizing properties. (Any reader who is not familiar with acid base systems is invited to study up on the basics of such buffering systems. It is fairly simple stuff and this subject should be covered in a textbook on biology or chemistry. Or, perhaps you could do a search for “acid base buffering systems,” “proton donor,” and/or “proton acceptor” on the web?)
My main point here is that the positive metal ions, e.g. Na+, Ca2+, Mg2+, etc. though often present in buffering systems are not in themselves acidic or alkaline, and do not in and of themselves cause an acid or alkaline reaction in our bodies. Nevertheless, it has been my experience that some physicians speak of these minerals as alkaline, though if I am not mistaken, this is technically an error, which appears to be based upon an assumption that an alkalinizing salt, e.g. Na2CO3, CaCO3, or MgCO3, is being spoken of.
Suppose a patient is suffering from magnesium (Mg) deficiency and that the doctor wisely recommends an alkaline salt of magnesium for his patient thus causing alleviation of the malady of the patient. Suppose the doctor rationalizes this curative success in terms of having given his patient an alkalinizing agent, is he then correct or not? No, he isn’t, is he? Yet, he was successful in treating the patient to a cure, wasn’t he!?
Now, suppose the same patient next develops a yeast infection. Could this be due to a side effect from the recently given alkalinizing agent? It could, couldn’t it? Due to the alkalinizing agents – but not to any metal as such - alkali are being excreted out of the body, thus causing a more alkaline environment in the body cavities, e.g. in the bladder and genital systems, and on the skin. Such alkaline environments are beneficial for yeast growth and may be treated at times very quickly and effectively by applying an acidic solution, e.g. a mixture of one tablespoon of vinegar (from your own refrigerator) in one quart of regular faucet water.
Could it be that yeast infections, a most common and very familiar side effect of Penicillin, are due to an alkaline reaction in the body? We commonly see yeast infections in the body cavities, bladder, and skin, and isn’t it true that this happens as these organs are being exposed to alkaline excretions? Penicillin is most commonly prepared and sold as a potassium salt and as such it will most certainly serve as a H+ acceptor, which by definition makes Penicillin an alkalinizing agent. This is a likely scenario, is it not?!
Notably, the acidic reaction caused by acidifying foods is not generally measureable in the blood in terms of a change in pH, but it is measureable in the pH changes of the body excretions. And the reason for this is basically that the very effective buffering systems of the body are doing what they are designed to do, i.e. causing the excess of acid or base to be excreted out of the body system and thus maintaining a balanced pH.
Accordingly, I find that I do not fully agree with your “first” and “second” statements in your paragraph starting with “I totally agree…” within your last prior post (dated Tuesday, June 29 2004 @ 12:54 AM CDT.) Furthermore, I find that my own statement, "...acidification of the blood is essential for the reversal of cancer and other chronic illnesses…”, as quoted by you has been somewhat revised, modified, and/or expanded upon by my above thoughts. In fact, a cancer tumor may be considered a foci of infection by the PC organism that is being walled off by the body’s immune system, and, in so doing the inside of the tumor will be treated by the body’s buffering systems as exterior to the body/blood system and the pH of the bodily excretions will likely correspond to the inside of the tumors, won’t they? A similar situation will exist adjacent to any foreign body within the body system, e.g. root canals, orthopedic nails, plates, &c.. Thus the important lessons learnt from and taught by the Virginia Livingstone-Wheeler Clinic in San Diego re the removal of any and all root canals and foreign bodies ASAP in order to effect a cure for the diseased and dying.
Your thoughts…
