Land Patent in the 13 Colonies

I am sure it can be done, but it looks like about 6 months to a year of work and going back to different counties, etc. Any experiences here would be appreciated.

Land Patent in the 13 Colonies

HB,

My cousin and I are in the process of doing it. We went to the courthouse and followed back and got the oldest deeds to the property we could in our families name and then we srote to the BLM and got the patent numbers. You can sometimes get that information at the courthouse, but we weren't able to. We've got the patent numbers now and we are going next week to try and pull the patents forward with the paperwork that is in the downloads section her at SJ. It cost about $35.00 to get the info from the BLM in VA.

Donna,

When I called the BLM, They said that they didn't have the records for the 13 original states. Do they really have it?

This would be great. Any reply is appreciated.

Are you IN Virginia, or just getting the info from the Eastern States office there?

Thanks!

Land Patent in the 13 Colonies

Hi all,

Here is the link to the Bureau of Land Management for the Eastern States.

Regardless of which FO (Front Office) you choose, all you get are phone numbers to call...

The Jackson FO link goes to directly to the contact page, where many names are listed..

Most of the 13 colonies are handled by the Milwaukee FO.. the initial link takes you to a lighthouse project... you then need to click on the "lands" link in the top left hand corner.

The Milwaukee FO only has one contact listed..

Ed Ruda @ (703) 440-1663

I will be calling later in the week, and will post any findings... unless someone beats me to it!

Hope this helps..

For HIS Glory,

Akira
