Assessment...101

Did anyone ever have one of those days?

This past year, like all the year(s) prior to, I get this so-called Notice in the mail entitled ASSESSMENT.

The paper goes on to read... "This is not a Tax Bill."

Then later on I get another doc in the mail entitled... "Please Pay this Amount."

YOU HAVE UNTIL (DATE) TO CONTACT THE ASSESSOR FOR ANY CHANGE OR CORRECTION ON YOUR TAX BILL.

Hummmmmmmm? What Tax Bill?????????????

So my question today is: Where's the Tax Bill?

I wonder if Bill know's about this?

Lightbulb I get one of those every year

You just turned on a light within me! God Bless you!

"This is not a Tax BIll" Why do they always make an emphasis on that phrase? It had never occurred to me before. It's one of those giant details you don't notice because of it: they are too obvious.

Very interesting....

It is all about the...

Assessment.

Look at who(m) they're assessing? Maybe "You?"

Or YOU, You or you! (grin)

Questions dovetailing into assessment

I read somewhere, maybe here, that one should contact the county/city assessor, and request the paper on the taxes levied against ones property. Then, also request the codes that tell what each type of property is.

After that, one should write to the assessors office requesting a re-designation of property as private. After all the discussion, if they do this, then you should no longer see a tax levied on your property.

Is this correct, and has anyone done this successfully?

I have the tax levied statement for my property, and the codes sheet. They currently have my place listed as residence. Do I have to have my property paid off in full before I can get this change?

The folks at the assessors office asked me if I owned the land, to which I replied I was buying it from the bank. Did I goof?

All answers and/or references/cites welcome.

Talking

Write a letter to your Tax Man and tell it since you own your property is yours and therefore, you want it to be reclassified as PRIVATE.

He can answer saying your home is a RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY, and then, you will have the basis to ask him if he is questioning your right to have PRIVATE PROPERTY. He will be forced to acknowledge you have that right, indeed. You will use this answer to demand the reclassification of your property as PRIVATE. By placing him on the spot he will need to please you to get out.

Use certified or registered mail and always addresss him personally, and keep proof of mailing. He is Mr. John Wantme Paytax, not Mr. Tax Assesor.

PRIVATE property owners dont pay Real Estate taxes.

Another Assessment Notice

I have recieved two assessment Notices since bringing up the patent on my land. I have sent them back "Refused for Cause" and later I sent a certified letter to the Deputy prosecuting Attorney who wrote me telling me that the assessment Notice is not a "bill" and that I should hire an attorney.
I replied telling him I would not hire an attorney and he and the assessor had ten days to re-classify my property or they would be admittting their intent to damage me, impair my right to contract, agree to tort, etc. Haven't heard anything yet but I do expect a response.
Has anyone gone throught the defense of a land patent as it applies to taxation?
We want to revoke the trustee on the mortgage, anyone with knowledge or experience on this? We would like to have solid information on this rather than opinion as this is important and we've never been in arrears on the mortgage contract and don't intend to discharge it.

Help!!!!!

Okay, I know what I said earlier, and I still stand by it. The problem being, I cannot find anything to back it up as far as cites go. So, being still a student, I am asking for help from the "upperclassmen" on this board.

Can any of you point me in the right direction for a cite or two that would apply virtually anywhere in the union of republics?

When I formulate my demand to the county assessors office, I want to be able to defend the claim of private property not being taxable. I will deal with the mortgage company later.

Glad to see interest in thread (insert icon here)

I like the attitude Dadmoonbunny!

I have to look into archives, cuz I do recall the research into this area, and there is still hardcopy evidence available, maybe with updates?

I will check into this after dinner, then PM in the a.m.

Have a nice afternoon. (insert grin icon here)

H.B.:

I do know that your plate is full, but I would spend 2-3 hours looking into this for added ammo (non-violent) pleasure!

As always... (insert Happy Trails icon here) TY!
