started search today

Searched at clerk's office today. Really nice, helpful lady. Records on "our" little piece of property went back only to mid-80s. After that, there were no more references to "deed book and page...."

Any suggestions on how to proceed?

And she didn't know where the earlier documents are archived?

No. Her computer records went back only a couple of years. After that, and as she showed me on the microfilm records, each existing document has--or is supposed to have--a reference to the preceeding filing, and so forth, back to the beginning, I reckon.

I'll have to go back when I have more time. Start where I left off and then get her to help.

Thanks, Ice.

Here is the trick. The records are in two places but slightly different. Before the 'puter days you have to go to the big books. You find where A sold it to B. like the last computer entry. Now you need to find whom A bought it from. Go to the auditor’s office and they will tell you the book and page where A bought it. Then go to the recorder. Look it up and find that A bought it from C. So it is back to the auditor for the book and page where C bought it from D….<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o></o></SPAN>
