Hydrogen Appliances.com (Solar, Wind, BioDiesel, Hydrogen) Although they use to have small affordable hydrogen gas generators all they have on the site now is the 300k+ Industrial model.

Hydrogen Car and Multi-fuel DVD Training Course
Roy McAlister and Steven Harris have created a DVD "Classroom type" video teaching you how they created a multi-fuel car from a normal Gasoline Engine. No Diesel engine required.
They have a 1991 Geo Metro that runs on
1. Hydrogen
2. Methane
3. Gasoline
4. Diesel
5.Alcohol
6. Turpine
7. Propane
8. and more.
Reminds me of the Mr. Fusion in the movie Back to the Future. They claim this is not a theroretical will do, but can do, is accomplished, has done!

I'll see y'all later, I gotta go dig in the shed for one of my old Briggs & Straton Lawn mower engines.

I'm bummed out. I checked into a few solar sites a month ago after seeing a couple of off the grid threads, got interested in taking my house totally solar, maybe it was the hurricanes. Only found one site that I actually could get prices for a package deal, (solar panels, batteries, converters) the company was owned by Shell so maybe there are cheaper ways, but it seemed like the cost was about 12k for a package that would only supply about 1/3 my energy usage.

I think the rock n' roll way to go is to get a 1800 rpm diesel generator and make your own bio diesel
build a soundproof shed around it

Check out micro turbines here
http://www.microturbine.com/technology/techDownload.asp
You can do co-gen with them, drop them across the utility lines to sell power, burn diesel or natural gas (not both though). Use the exhaust to heat water or home. They are the size of a file cabinet and 30 kw should handle most everybodies home. Also low maintenance.

Makes me think of stills, moonshine liquor, bags of fermented corn, things blowing up. Or, on a more current note, meth labs blowing up. I wonder how much bio you would need per week or month to conspicuously consume electricity? I will check out Palani's link. Last time I looked at my electricity bill, seems like I used about 3000kw. Does that sound right? How about that Tesla thing. Does it work?

ouch!!!!!!!!! A60kw turbine is about 100k, the 30kw presumably is 1/2 of that. I would have to get 8-10 houses going on it. of course if I oversold a spot and mine was free.....
Maybe this is the energy source referred to in the prophesy in Religion section?
