I came across this site with a lot of info on alcohol and biodiesel. Make your own distiller and modify your engines.

They look cool and that engine looks beastly
Too bad I can't read, write, or speak portugese
Maybe we could all fly to rio and drive back in a Ranger convoy
maybe visit The Black Truth in Panama on the way back?

Boy, diesel engines are scarce and expensive.
Anyone looking for a new car/ truck with a diesel engine which you can obtain the MSO and convert to other fuels? Yes. No. Maybe…
I came across an odd type of truck that is diesel and low cost. It is a commercial truck. I know… it is the ugliest thing but has potential. You could probably modify the cab and use the back for multiple purposes. Check out these sites.
UD
Hino
Isuzu
Fuso
Pretty ugly but at least the Hino has a nose. Put a flat bed and interchange it with a water tank, fuel tank, or a box on it. I think you can get these trucks for under $20,000 but I haven't confirmed it yet.
Need an inexpensive diesel car? Check out the VW Golf, Jetta, and Beetle starting at $16.000.

get a mercedes!
Get on your local www.craigslist.org and buy yourself an old diesel mercedes. We just bought one for $700! You can put veggie oil in them without doing any mods (not exclusively, still need to put diesel in it). Or you can make the little filter yourself and get some used veggie oil from restaurants (for free) and drive for free, mercedes style!

Something to try
Some may have already seen this from another message board

INCREASE FUEL MILEAGE
By adding 2 to 3 ounces of pure Acetone to a 10 gallon
tank of gas, you can increase your fuel mileage an
average of 25%. It's like getting 5 FREE gallons of
fuel for every 20 gallons of fuel you put in your
tank.
Here's how it works. Fill your tank with fuel. Use
the below table to figure out how much pure Acetone to
add to your tank.
Standard Fuel (non-diesel)
5 gallons of fuel---add 1 to 1.5 ounces of Acetone
10 gallons of fuel---add 2 to 3 ounces of Acetone
15 gallons of fuel---add 3 to 4.5 ounces of Acetone
20 gallons of fuel---add 4 to 6 ounces of Acetone
No need to use high octane fuel unless your vehicle
"knocks" with lower octane fuels. The best mileage is
usually obtained with the lower octane fuels with a
rating of 85 to 87 octane.
Diesel Fuel
5 gallons of fuel---add .5 to 1 ounce of Acetone
10 gallons of fuel---add 1 to 2 ounces of Acetone
15 gallons of fuel---add 1.5 to 3 ounces of Acetone
20 gallons of fuel---add 2 to 4 ounces of Acetone
It is important to measure the Acetone precisely. Use
a glass or metallic measuring instrument. Do not use
plastic as some plastics can melt from Acetone. You
can find glass or metallic measuring instruments at
some kitchen supply stores or scientific supply
vendors such as Edmund Scientific.
Okay, now you're saying, where can I purchase Acetone?
Pure Acetone can be purchased at most hardware or
home improvement stores. Home Depot and Lowe's
carries it in their paint department. If you can't
find it, ask a sales representative. CAUTION: Be
very careful using Acetone. Do not spill Acetone on
painted surfaces as Acetone is the main ingredient in
paint strippers. It can also melt most plastics. Do
not breathe the fumes or allow it to contact your skin
or clothing.
Besides increased fuel mileage, there are other
benefits to adding Acetone to your fuel, such as
increased performance, more pickup, and longer engine
life as well as reduced emissions. We are unaware of
any negative effects when precisely following the
above procedure.
The above information is a scientific study.
Upaynothing.com makes no warranty to it's accuracy and
therefore assumes no liability for it's use. Bottom
line, we are not responsible for you or your vehicle
should you use the above method.

Great Idea!! I've been lookin into that since Mercedes and VW are the only 2 companies that provide small diesels in the North American Market in any quantity or quality now days it seems.
I been lookin at the 90-95 E-class though. I like the looks much better than the old 70's and 80's versions. I guess I shouldn't be so picky though. A Mercedes is still a Mercedes eh?
