MY OPINION:
Heard a few years ago of a guy in Missouri who had a pasture full of sassafras trees he needed to get rid of. Set up a stock tank with a fire pit underneath, made a rack to steam the wood over the tank and a hood to collect the steam with a condenser. He was able to collect several quarts of sassafras essential oil a day which he sold. After the wood dried he used the wood to stoke the fire.
I doubt if he spent more than $100 in the whole operation.

Judge: Are you the same Joshua who made the sun stand still?
Joshua: No, your honor, I am the one who made the moonshine still.

oil of oregeno?
Got some links for me? i've never heard of this before.
I've been making garlic syrup for the first signs of respiratory colds and sore throats and coughing. It is amazing how well it works! Just honey and onions!

garlic syrup
Yes, the "garlic syrup" is great! And for the little ones who refuse to drink it, a poultice of onions, vinegar on the throat and chest never fails to break up congestion and relieve the cough. (Great for ear infections as well.)

Seeker,
You might have already got the info. but if not I wanted to pass some on to you. There are several ways to make "garlic syrup" so I wanted to suggest you do a search for "honey and onions cough syrup". There are several ways to make it but I would definitely go with a recipe that uses garlic. Also, IMOO white onions would be best. This is something that would be set out all night and it sounds like 2 in your house need it now! I would not use the syrup for my youngest children though. You could consider the onion poultice tonight to help them through the night. (As well, you could find how to do that if you searched "onion poultice".) There are several ways, if you have any questions I'll do my best to help. I do hope they are doing better!
I pray that it is not the whooping cough that I heard is spreading in the north. Take care!

my onion syrup recipe
I take an onion and slice it. I place one slice in the bottom of a bowl and cover it with honey, then another on top of that and do the same thing, alternating layers. Then I leave it sit out overnight. Drain off the syrup and put itin a jar. Make sure to keep it in the fridge. I give 2TBspns at a time. Usually just one dose a day but you can do it every few hours.
ras - why not with young children?
