Anyone have good links to gun shows that travel the country? I would like to buy some guns from private dealers... When you buy from a private dealer, you dont have to register your gun, correct?

That is not true. Private dealer have to follow the guidline set up by your state or federal. Unless you buy the gun on the street or black market. Unregister weapon is a crime, if you get cut.

what is the benefit of getting it from a priave dealer then if you still have to register it just like as if you bought it at the store.. Is the only benefit, is the gun registered immediately at gun show, as opposed to having to wait the 7 federal days for background check.. So by law whether from a private dealer or not, it still needs to be registered? You just get the gun immediately at show instead of the wait?

The second question is: Do you have any links to gun shows coming to town like Santa

I'm going out on a limb here. The private dealer is no different than the brick and mortar dealer in that both are running a business. Now, if your neighbor has a gun you want, and is willing to sell it to you then, you would have place not to register it, but if your neighbor has already registered it then, it becomes a matter of state jurisdiction.

so, at the gun show, you can just buy the gun from the private dealer w/o the 7 day wait.. Doesnt the private dealer already have it registered when he sells it to you though, compelling you to register it too? or when the private dealer sells it to you, just dont register it again, and sell it to your neighbor for some cash?

From what I understand, and you will have to check this out for yourself, there are no requirements for gun show dealers have you wait the prescribed amount of time. Now, as to a schedule of shows, I do not know.

A dealer is a DEALER. You will have to fill out paperwork.

What you seek is a ''Private party" sale. No paperwork.*

I highly doubt there are any 'traveling' gun shows....at least not on a national level.

There is no 'registering' of guns. ***

There is no waiting period for guns. *

*At the federal level. Check your LOCAL laws before proceeding...particularly regarding gun shows.

**The paperwork mentioned above is 'allegedly' destroyed after the NICS background check, and purchaser info remains as part of the dealers logs only. (At least... that's what the gummint says...not that I beleive them.)

so, the next question would obviously be, If the private seller at gun show did not "register it" , and you do not register it, it is a completely "state free" gun. But the question is, where de he get the gun from..? How did he purchase the gun from the manufacturer without having to register it... Is there a way to get "direct to the source" manufactured guns before the state touches it.. ???

I guess kind of like the equivelant of having the MSO on a car and never registering it?

Not wanting to sound as though I do not want asnwer, but you would need to check all laws concerning the purchasing of guns so that you will know for yourself. With that said, if the dealer does not place paperwork in front of you, and he/she makes it known at the same time that he/she has not registered them, and you purchase and do not register it then, to me, the state does not know that you have purchased it.

I suspect the state can get/have records of the guns manufactured, but I also suspect that the state does not have records of purchases beyond that else they would not require the registration.

Guns manufactured prior to 1899 are evidently not deemed to have ever entered the stream of commerce and therefore do not count as firearms. These antique weapons do not need any kind of paperwork. You have to find one with an odd caliber ammo that is no longer commercially available otherwise the ammo can be a legal problem. The source of the ammo is as important as the the status of the gun.

Another choice is a replica black powder weapon. Again, no paperwork required although some states are looking at regulating replicas in the future. Check your state laws.
