ok, ill find the quote about Paul admitting he is a liar. now, if you get a new living bible (i think thats the name of it) and look up act 13:1, they same Simeon the black man, they just changed out the word niger. so if they are saying niger is black man, hey, look, the word nigger came from the river niger. so nigger, niger, its the same. we just live in a day and time where they didnt feel comfortable keeping that word in the bible so they took it out in the later bibles.

He has many articles on there showing the Paul did not say to abolish the Law at all. He goes back to the Greek and Hebrew and does wonderful exegesis. Very convincing.

There are things to get up in arms about, and there are things to let rest, kgod.

I love the info and am eating it up, but the issue of "Niger" being derogatory in the Bible is forcing <u>our </u> culture's all too common prejudices on something written 2K years ago.

Black Simeon could(IMHO) just be referenced that way, or better yet, described that way simply because his contemporaries knew him as such. I don't know if it was necessarily a derogatory status to be darker skinned in the Roman world then. Many of Paul's contemporaries were slaves and it was economic status that put them there, not skin color.

My experience in this part of Alaska, we have three black people in our population of about 3K. Most of us are homesteaders and like to be mimimally interfered with by govt.and most of us are paler skin or Alaskan native - an oriental look, honestly. Two of the black people are kids adopted from Haiti, age 7 and 8. They have unique enough names we just know them as Bonnie and Josiah. The other black person is Mike. Now hang on here folks. We know him as Black Mike. In conversations with others, no one sees it negative. It is just descriptive. Heck, I don't even know his last name!



Now with that said, I believe our present govt WANTS to have racism persist. As long as we can fight among ourselves, we can never "pay attention to the man behind the curtain." (Wizard of Oz). I don't have to begin on all of the govt prgms that perpetuate economic dependence from our brothers and sisters who happened to go a different direction from Babel so long ago.

Weis, you got that right about threads getting off-track--this one is doing just that.



Folks, as an objective observer I must say this about the word 'niger and nigger'. It is what you make it. If you acknowledge the word(s) and it makes one react positively or negatively--then the word has power over one and all. And the one using it on others to get said reaction has power over those people. Anytime you can speak and make something physical happen to someone--you have control. Look at Presidents, Hitler, Stalin, Atilla the Hun, supremacy groups, and so on.



But starve a word of that lifeblood and it dies. people say that they don't like the word--but they rarely live what they say. So don't talk about it--be about it. I for one look at folks with a blank stare when it is said because I do not know what it means and nor can I identify with it. I don't give it life and it is meaningless to me.



The color of my skin has not prevented me from helping anyone or asking for help. It has not stopped me from breathing or eating. So if most of my physical capabilities are still in tact--why in the world would I let a word make react negatively when nature hasn't?



The past few posts reflect just what I am saying. The thread is getting off track. Its going into bible verses, alleged 'bad' words, and renaming of threads.



This is suppose to be a teaching thread on the Moors and their influence on our society from past to present times. I know where kgod wants to go with this thread but, I suspect kgod may be a little frustrated with other things and not really focused on teaching right now. This is understandable if everyone knew a little past history on kgod and how far he has come. Kgod may be a little pissed about somethings outside of this topic so, distraction can easily occur---I'm guilty of this as well.



So this is my attempt to get the thread on a teaching mode and kgod back into focus. He has a lot to offer with this type of knowledge (whether it is accepted or dismissed is not the issue---getting the information out for investigation is the issue).



But as always do what you will with the thread; however, don't miss the message just because its wrapped differently.
