Tidbits from a public notary
Just a few helpful hints to help you along the way.......
When using a notary and you need a jurat certificate signed make sure the notary does in fact put you under oath.
Use blue ink when signing any document and unless prohibited by law, ask the notary to use blue. Keep a blue pen in your pocket or purse just in case the notary says they don't have blue. This will help you in identifying an original document. (Copy machines are good but for some reason the blue is still blue but normally a different color blue) Besides the issue of black ink is public and blue ink is private. (I use fountain pens for my notarizations, therefore a smear test can be performed on my signature and the ink will run therefore proving the authenticity of the original document)
Most states now require their public notary to use a rubber stamp. Not all but most. If you are in a rubber stamp state, ask the notary to use an embosser in addition to the stamp if it is permissable. There are a couple of states that prohibit the embosser.
There are some states where the notary's signature is their seal. Most of those states do allow the use of an embosser, ask the notary to emboss the document. Just as in ink color, the stamp is for public and the embosser is for private.
If it is a multiple page document make sure all pages in the document are embossed or a staggered seal is used. This will also help to ensure that a page hasn't been changed or tampered with once it was signed and notarized.

The crimper we use to put the raised seal on the document. It has a metal plate in it to actually press our seal into the paper.

Tidbits from a public notary
Vanton57,
Just wondering if you are located in the sunshine state. Would like to welcome you to the forum. I have learned some things from your posts I did not know regarding public and private. I wish I had known about you when I needed my Notarial Protest done regarding the BoE we sent to the MC. If you are who I think you are I will try to send people your way.

Thank you for the welcome to all that have welcomed me.
Hmmmmmm, I could be who you are thinking of hehehehe
Yes, I'm in the sunshine state and it was definitely sunny here all day.
We exchanged emails the other day didn't we.....
The new person you are training has potential from the conversation I had on the phone, once they understand the notary law and the entire process. But hey, I won't turn any business away.

Tidbits from a public notary
By the way I am not training her. She has been in training from someone else that is a paralegal. I too am interested in becoming a Notary that can do these processes. I have a friend that is interested as well. We need a network or people that can do this.
Well going to have to call it a night. We have this Hurricane Jeanne headed right at us. Need to get some rest for all the work that will need to be done afterward.
Take care,

Hate to see and hear that all of you over there are getting slammed again, but I will ask that you keep Jeanne over there and send her back into the Atlantic... PLEAASEEEEEEEEE
If you need any help on the notary stuff, go to my main website www.nwflnotary.com and click on the Florida Notaries page. Lots of links and help files.
I do protests for folks across the country. It is difficult to find notaries that will network because everyone is so protective of their turf. BUT with that said, if you need assistance, let me know.
