Over the years people prompt me to do some research into the Constitutional Rangers. There is a rumor that Congress voted or somehow authorized the Rangers a charter or mission statement or whatever. And another that this Mission Statement or Charter is published through the Library of Congress.
The latter I suspect is true. However so is Albert Pike's treatise on Freemasonry -
Morals and Dogma. But when I met with some of these Rangers it would seem that this club only consists of three or four crotchety old men who are just cantankerous enough to keep rumors flying. I appealed to them to verify the rumors please and was told that an FBI agent had stolen the Library of Congress entry from the Library of Congress?
Research into the Congressional Record vote of approval showed that for very rare and unusual process, that particular Friday has been deleted from the Record. It would appear that the Senate only met for a few seconds? Peculiar indeed! [As I look over the images it occurs to me maybe I better review what was going on in the
House that day?]
These few old gentlemen were promoting the Constitutional Rangers around the Pikes Peak Region and one suitor attended. After their promotional speil he told them about some county construction installing expensive new sewage at his expense and over his objections. They got in the Ranger-mobile, complete with some sort of magnetic sign like the Ranger Badge and went to this guy's home and threatened to arrest the county workers. They complained to their supervisor about the threats and soon the suitor was being summoned to testify against the Rangers impersonating law enforcement of some kind.
The suitor managed to avoid process, adamant as it was - the DA was really quite hot and heavy about putting these Rangers out of commission. However I suspect that suitors being courts of competent jurisdiction and Constitutional Rangers not, that is why there is nothing to be heard about the Constitutional Rangers anymore. Those proceedings went forward without the star witness. But that is just a guess.
For many years I have been appreciative of what the Constitutional Rangers stand for and even optimistic that some kind of evidence of authority will surface. I will include in the attachments a copy of the Charter with the
Library of Congress Reception # on it so maybe somebody can verify if it is actually there on record. I will throw some attachments your way, but to me and mine experience, the Rangers are much more trouble than they are worth without any true authority behind their boasts.

David Merrill.
