Tracking Down Serious Heresay

My wife, at work, heard from another source that on television it was reported that State of Georgia claims that driving on a suspended license is now a felony.

A felony? Three strikes and you are out? Life in prison because of a suspended drivers license? Murder = driving on a suspended license".

I have been unable to track down this "Truth".

Any help would be appreciated.

Duh-um-duh. I found it.

SB-15 under illegal immigration.

Driving on a third or a fourth suspended license charge would be a felony.

Current Status
05/30/07 - Senate Date Signed by Governor - Vetoed

Unless this bill has reared a new head it is dead. Will continue my research.

Grand Jury

When I used to live in Georgia I was called to serve on the grand jury for 3 months. Even if they were to pass it as law (doubtful as their senate pro-tiem counsel would certainly advise against it) a person would have to have the case heard before the grand jury before the charge could proceed to court for trial. When I served on the grand jury we threw out all sorts of things that we didn't believe were constitutional and / or the evidence just wasn't compelling enough to allow it to proceed past us.

Serving on the grand jury was a serious learning experiance.. and fun.

The stupid thing is that everyone already has a license as a nonresident, and even residents who maintain a foreign, second residence may declare that one to be primary for vehicle purpose.

This bill is aimed at "illegals" all of whom have DL's anyway, just by intl convention. Although these can be suspended/revoked/disqualified just the same which many likely will be.

Matters not, the state actors just ignore the law, getting better mileage from random opinion.

See, it really does help to stay outside the VC!
