Google can search your phone # and give you a complete name, address, and map. I'm lucky with Google, my phone # is under another name and address.

Solution: Get vonage, then after awhile change your address. You can take that # anywhere and no one including vonage will know where you are.

or get a new id

Get monthly magazines on different matters (mechanics, fishing, sewing)delivered at your home. Just pick a subject you hate, or about any thing that might never apply to the real you. Most subscriptions are unexpensive and you can invent a new name for yourself if you wish to. ID are never required and money orders can be mailed to the publishers every six months or yearly.

Simply having your number unlisted will help, but you have to do that as soon as you get the number before it gets propigated far and wide.

VoIP services such as vonage are also handy. So are cell phones, as I have never had one that got listed anywhere. Of course with VoIP or prepaid phones you should be able to use whatever info you like - you can buy vonage voip kits from electronics stores now so they should never need any address. If you have them ship it to you you can use a private remailing service or a friend or family member to receive the shipment.
