the philosophy of it all

Two questions:

1) Why us?
Why out of all the numbers of people who, through whatever means, come to learn and understand truths of how things are (not "the" truth, but simply "truths")--out of all of those people, why do so few--like us--act on what we come to know?

2) Evil, or ignorant?
Regarding those in power:
Do "they" know these things that we have learned and act upon, or do they not?&
If they DO know, are they&so lacking in moral character that "just doing my job" becomes their rationalization for perpetuating, well, tyranny?
If they do NOT know, are they so comfortable in their positions that&every opposition is seem simply as a "challenge to their authority" and must be dealt with accordingly, truth be&damned?

Me? I'm all over the place on these things.

I just know my "destiny" regarding all this was established in the third grade. Since then, the battles continued to grow in seriousness against agents (teachers, employers, business, government, etc.)&with ever-increasing levels of power.
