Hey
I have been out of touch as I am in Biloxi Mississippi and was totally wiped out by Katrina.
I have to say the Red Cross has been very helpful down here. They have numerous centers set up with supplies, medical help.
The Salvation Army has been great
Many many Churches have given lots of help with supplies, shelter, volunteers to help people do clean up
I saw lots of Feed the Children Trucks set up.
People and church groups and companies from Florida and Alabama were coming in right away to help so thankful for the help they got from us last year during Ivan.
Before FEMA even got organized we had electric workers from Indiana, Michagan, Mass, Georgia and many others states pouring in with their trucks and equipment to help.
Countless thousands of workers from all over. I thank all of them for their wonderful help and support.
New Orleans has been getting all the news good and bad. It is a whole other state and a whole other world there with their own needs.
As for Mississippi, we have cities totally wiped out, areas that look like Hiroshima,(including where I lived). With all the great help from others we are getting things up and running as best as possible, electric back on in most areas, telephones working, more stores opening so lines aren't as long.
We appreciate all these organizations and individuals and sincerely thank them for their kindness.
Our battle is with the insurance companies trying to change this to Flood Katrina instead of paying up like they should for Hurricane Katrina.
