Parable
Around 35 years ago there was a snowstorm in northern Minnesota. A young fellow in a light plane wanted to land at a remote strip to visit his girlfriend. As he approached the strip he noted another plane making touch and go landings. Thinking nothing further about the suitability of the field for landing he set the plane down in three feet of snow (no skis) and flipped it.
When the pilot climbed out and looked around the other plane was nowhere to been seen. It seems the pilot of the other plane hadn't been performing touch and goes but simply doing low flybys to determine if the field was safe. When he saw the plane nose over he had the answer to his question and had flown off to another field.
