DVD's For those with slow internet connections

Members,

A few posts in recent threads have reminded me of an idea I had a while back.

Many of our members do not have blazing fast computers or Internet connections, which restricts them from watching some of the videos and listening to the big audio files.

It would great if someone could compile all this info onto a DVD that people could send a small money order for the reproduction costs and postage, and in return get the DVD.

I would like to do this, but I simply do not have the time to take on this extra responsibility.

So members, jump in and let me know your thoughts on this matter. I would like to see discussion on the following points:

1. Do you have access to a computer with a DVD reader?

2. What would be fair compensation to whomever takes the responsibility to make the DVD's?

3. What content would be appropriate for the DVD's?

4. Who would be willing to actually assume this responsibility.

Regards,
Sui Juris

Re:DVD's For those with slow internet connections

I was thinking about this as well. Among 3 different machines, I have loads of documents, audio files and video files.

Let me think about it a bit more.

I have the capability to transfer a file to dvd.& Keep in mind the transfer from a file to a dvd is not the best quality.& It will not look or sound as good as an actual movie.&

I was thinking of just making a data DVD-R so that you could access this stuff from your computer's DVD-ROM drive.

Those video files are not high enough quality to bother putting on a DVD for viewing in a standalone player. Also, you couldn't do much with the audio and document files that way either.

I just mentioned a DVD-R because those video files over at www.kel.cc/downloads/TaxStuff are just too large for a single CDR.

& While I don't have a Dvd player/writer on my comp, I would be glad to help, if that means supplying some blank dvds, maybe helping label them.& I guess what I am saying, I may not be able to head it up, but helping is down my alley!!& Keep me posted.& No pun intended.

Re:DVD's For those with slow internet connections

I found something that may be the solution.... it is a company that outsources DVD replication. You can send them your finished DVD, and they will handle the duplication and delivery.

They will do this for $11 a DVD, so anyone who wants the CD could have it for about $15 with S&H. The company also handles the payment, and can accept all major credit cards.

Here is the link to the company - it is called CustomFlix:
<a href=http://www.customflix.com/Producer/Prices.jsp>Custom Flix</a>

Let me know your thoughts on this - it would save any of our members from the responsibility involved, and their would be no overhead. Whoever wants the DVD would have to foot the cost on a case per case basis.

There may be other companies out their that offer the same service. Feel free to check around on this also, as I have not had a chance to do so.

Regards,
Sui Juris

research1,

No one is attempting to violate any copyright.& We do not obligate anyone to contribute information of any kind, therefore, there is no commie pinko mentality.& This site is for those that WANT to participate.& If someone has a desire to offer something of substance would you hold that against them?& Of course you wouldn't.& No information is free... it has to be found by someone... and how many have to search to find the information offered here??... there is always research to be done, even the researching of "free" information.

If you think this site is marxist-lennonist-zionist-communist -- then why are you here?& You can leave any time you choose to do so.& It's not like you would miss out on anything... or is it?

It's File Transfer. Nothing More.

Do you want to spend 3 days downloading and burning to CD's or get everything on one DVD?

Either way, you have the material.
