7 million adults in U.S. prisons

Capitalizing on Crime

"You can get less time for second-degree murder than for stealing a six-pack of beer.'

Since 1980 the U.S. prison and jail population has quadrupled in size to more than 2 million. With 2.2 million people engaged in catching criminals and putting and keeping them behind bars, "corrections" has become one of the largest sectors of the U.S. economy, employing more people than the combined workforces of General Motors, Ford and Wal-Mart, the three biggest corporate employers in the country.

Nearly 7 million adults were in U.S. prisons or on probation or parole at the end of last year, 30 percent more than in 1995, the Justice Department said Wednesday.

That was about one in every 31 adults under correctional supervision at the end of 2004, compared with about 1 in 36 adults in 1995 and about 1 adult in every 88 in 1980, said Allan J. Beck, who oversaw the preparation of the department's annual report on probation and parole populations.

Want to make money?

Invest in Wackenhut.

Keep going the way we are going now and thats our big investment market of the future, except it seems the future is happening now.

How do they do it?

Well ignorance of the law is no excuse, correct...?

How many laws are there that we are required to not be ignorant of?

Hmmm?

The less laws, the less "law enforcement?"

Does "law enforcement" have any vested interest in CRIME?

The less crime, the less "law enforcement?"

So those in law enforcement wishing to stay in "business" might want to be making some investments?

What pray tell might "law enforcement's" best investment be in?

CRIME?

Did I mention ignorance of the "law?"

Political prisoners?

Come on, this is America.

What exactly is politics anyway?

Land of the free and home of the brave, where nothing is free and cowards send the children of the poor off to kill and be killed in order that "investment" "interests" in the first fruits of another people's natural resources will be "proteced."

So, if there's no law and no law enforcement, there'll be no crimes?

No more rape, murder, theft, assault?

Right...
