Post Who Needs Network Security Anyway?

InfoWorld has an article that should strike fear in the heart of anyone concerned about network security. The article discusses how easily usernames and passwords can be collected from public and semi-public wireless and wired networks, such as those found in airports and hotels. More concerning, however, is the apparent lack of security measures employed by the very people that know better -- namely, IT security professionals.

as a "duly authorised" geek, i object! ;)

NO bonafide Geek would ever deploy a technology without giving due consideration to matters of security;

therefore, your "your post is out of order, you're out of order -- this whole court is..." oops, wrong forum

lol

those IT folken you refer to aren't IT professionals.

if they were, there'd be better security.
As it is, i'd offer that the installers were dollar-an-hour wanna-be's "just followin order"

</tirade>
rent a geek.

Agree

I would agree, any real IT professional would object to such lackluster security measures. I would say it's probably mostly the fault of the institutions that have no real security policies, dont care about security or just plain don't want to spend the extra time and money to make it happen.
