Note that there doesn't seem to be an "injured party".
This was prosecution of a "code violation" and nothing more.
Stuff like that leaps out at me.
Do you think we'll ever get back to a court system that requires a real "injured party" filing a "complaint"??

WITHOUT PREJUDICE
I am not condoning any illicit or immoral behavior. However, let's put this in perspective. Question is:
* If he were a card carrying member (a collusive: judge, billionaire, police chief, etc.) of Bohemian Grove, or,
* If he was a paying client of an international pre-school pre-teen child pimping service the likes of which Ted Gunderson and others uncovered, or,
* If he were a "high lord priest hi-bulb" of one of many 'occult organizations'...
Would he even be in jail? Would the story wouldnt even have made the news.

It was only a little more than 50 years ago that it was common place for men in their 20's or early 30's to marry a teen.
Men wanted to "make something of themselves" before marriage. And when they were ready they looked for "good stock". And they wanted more than just a couple of children.
But with the assistance of different media, and a bit of time, what was once the most natural and common place of occurrences has become an abhorrence.
Yep, repeat something long enough and it eventually becomes the law of the land. Ya know, just like "ya gotta pay taxes!"
Our world keeps a changing.
And there are some freaks wandering around in it.

Biblical law, the rock bottom is 14, I believe.
I think common law is 14 also
I wouldn't go there, though

The bottom line there is no "injured party".
I believe that under Biblical and Common law the children are under the jurisdiction of the parents (mostly the father).
What the states appear to be doing is following no law, or mob rule.

WITHOUT PREJUDICE
The State of Nebraska is probably looking at a birth certificate and seeing an unauthorized corporate merger. The State of Nebraska likely sees nothing wrong with her having recreational sex for the rest of her life with umteeen guys and when she turns 18 she can become a stripper. But lawful marriage, that overturns their presumption?!
If there were no STATE OF NEBRASKA birth certificate there would be jurisdiction on the part o the court, thusly they are 'protecting' the what they see as a ward of the State of Nebraska.
And regarding mob rule: its interesting how many folks look at a situation and can only see the dirty things they themselves would do and then presume everyone else to be like them and can see no higher motive for lack of any internal experience of such and THEN on top of that want the STATE to do something. Got hypocrisy?
