Actually David, I believe the topic to be right on time. It also proves another point to those that declare a faith or confidence in either of the commonly known versions of the Bible and other artifacts of religious and political dogma.
The point, especially in regard to religious teachings, regardless of origin, is this. In order to clearly understand and comprehend what is transpiring within and around those teachings, it is imperative that each man or woman seeking to know the truth in regard to that teaching, must learn the original language and to not lean on the interpretation of others to cause you to come to a cognition of the subject matter.
That same ideology expressed immediately preceding, is also the basis of what the attorners are attempting to do. Because they have had their 'schooling' in the 'law', they feel that they are the only ones capable of truly having cognizance of the subject matter.

So far, I have only found verifiable or obvious truths in he Bible.
Men corrupt, to vain-glorify themselves. But it's all distortions.
Some of the more common misconceptions are easily cleared by correcting the perspective.
To me, the Bible is simply the center focus of real-time history- in a way, entirely secular. So strictly truthfully secular that it is divine.

Indeed cornering the Law as private intellectual property of the Bar.
I got an interesting PM lately - something to the effect of owning our bodies - as opposed to the Creator of our bodies owning them as His property. Also another PM about how to prepare to Rule and Reign, so to speak.
Many years back I wrote the Hebrew Laws of Moses and translated them back to English.
http://www.ecclesia.org/forum/images.../HebrewLaw.gif
Interestingly this is the biblical method of preparing a king to reign. I have also written the entire Pentateuch out verbatim on a word processor.
I am not boasting, just pointing out that this may be why I simply refuse to allow attorners to keep the law from me.

That is profound Farmer;
If I may be so bold as to comment. There is something I call advanced-resonance inductive plasma physics that comes from bible study and guidance from the Holy Spirit of God. For example mathematics can be the study of mental objects with reproducible properties (Rubin Hersh) or one can listen to Jesus at Matthew 24:15 and realize that Daniel was a wonderful mathematician. Not only did he find Jeremiah's 70 years convincing enough to convince Darius to release the Jews back into Israel, he properly decrypted MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN to be mathematically equivalent to 2,520 - a Babylonian Week = 360 x 7 = 2,520 in the small weight for measuring gold - gerahs.
Which in itself may be the ultimate mathematic according to Rubin Hersh - What is Mathematics, Really? - page 66. The study of reproducible mental objects. Every 19 years, the earth, sun and moon are within 1 day either way of the exact position they are in right now, in relation to each other. Every 318 years, they are in that relationship to within one hour either way. Every 2,520 years they align perfectly.
But how would even the most experienced astronomers ever get a glimpse of that?
How would Daniel, a unich with no heritage, ever be able to know to send gifts to the Messiah 400 years in the future by Jupiter and Regulus aligning in the morning sky on the Feast of Tabernacles?
Of course we use computer mathematics to see what the sky looked like back then. But how about 400 years prior to the First Christmas? How would they have known except some kind of rent in the Veil that typically divides us from the Divine?
Regards,
David Merrill.

Obvious truths like it is righteous and glorious to invade and conquer, rob and murder, to the last child?
Probably wouln't be very obvious to that child!
Or maybe that faith that Jesus is the Son of God is all that is needed to assure me of eternal life?
personally, I believe that both are lies promulgated by entities who definately do NOT have my best interests in mind!

And you gather this from choosing to disbelieve because you don't want to agree with what is written or you gather this from experience?
First you must believe and then you will see.
In the name of Jesus ask the Father to reveal himself to you, reveal the Truth to you, reveal wisdom and knowledge to you.
Better yet, choose to believe and Thank him for already revealing these things to you and for continuing to do so.
Take steps of faith and commit acts of love that go beyond what you would normally do.
When you choose to believe and act on it, the Father guarantees that you can see.

Its obviously true that the historical account is accurate. The rightness of the situation is contextual, in a barbaric age thousands of years ago. Not that things have changed much. By the standards of the time, the Israelites were actually an improvement.

Just the same, the premise of the topic is that all bibles are corrupt? I like the Nazarene Gospel's style of rebuilding the original Gospels out of time's corruption. It finds all seemingly related verses, analyzes commonality and discards most parts that cannot be verified elsewhere. The resurrection of Lazarus is a great example:
http://friends-n-family-research.inf...ll_Lazarus.zip
And then there is the Gospel of Thomas if you want to analyze corruption. In the 1950's a cave copy of Thomas was found that verified the Gospel of Thomas has survived - probably because it was so unpopular with the early corruptions, nearly intact. Until recently, scholars were never sure they were reconstructing the segments completely.
It is of course offensive to many social Christians but it seems fitting here, since the corruptions of the Bible are the topic.
Regards,
David Merrill.

David, the discovery you refer to is the Nag Hammadi Codices referenced and linked to in my other two related threads:
The Problem with the US Government
and
Is the God of the Bible the Devil.
The Gospel of Thomas is quoted from in the former thread.
That Gospel is now considered the source Q Document that provided the basis for the four Gospel Texts of the New Testament by many biblical scholars.

I used to believe when I pledged my alleigence to the flag that America stands for liberty and justice for all.
Finally the weight of the evidence crumbled that foundation into a shifting dust.
And it's the same type of accumulated evidence that now leads me to believe that if I rely upon faith then I will at some point in time find myself in a state of non-existence.
But, that's me. If you feel that faith will lead you to the promised land I have no more objection with that proposition than I have an objection to a cows faith as it munches green grass contentedly under the tender care of his loving master.
