Being in a particular denomination does not make a Christian, but one's faith in what Yeshua the Christ did for he/she on the cross at Calvary. There are some that you posted that do not believe in the diety of Christ and therefore do not teach the word of YHWH and lead many astray. Rather than ask us our opinion though, why don't you give us your opinion who you believe are not Christians, hmm? You seem to have so much (self proclaimed) knowledge in this area.

I agree with iamfree. It is not what church "building" that you go to or what denomination that you"claim" it is what you do with the knowledge of what Jesus Christ did on the cross, and who you believe that Jesus Christ is is what determines whether you are a true Christian. There are many that claim they are christians, but they may have never actually received Jesus as their Lord and Savior and accepted what he did on the cross at Calvary. Many are trying to get to heaven by the life that they live, and they will fall far short because we cannot live the life that we would have to live to be acceptable to God. It is only through the LIFE, and DEATH and RESSURECTION of Jesus, and our humble acceptance of that as atonement for our sinful nature that we are found acceptable by God. Have you ever had someone do something for you that you didn't deserve, and you wondered why they did it for you because you can never really pay them back for it, and the only think you could do was humbly accept that act of selflessness, and thank them for it? That is the point that we must come to in order to be saved or to be a true Christian. Knowing that we are in no way deserving of what was done for us, and knowing that there is no way we can ever repay it, and only being able to humbly bow your head and thank Him from the deepest part of our souls.

I know this in no way means anything to you BS because I think that you are an automatron, and have been buried so deeply within your sinful nature that you are totally incapable of feeling anything remotely human. But I have to take every opportunity to profess my faith in the Lord Jesus Christ because I feel as if I would burst if I didn't. You don't have to read it if you don't want to, but you are on the religious forum, so if you don't like it, then I hate it.....

NONE Of the above.. In my own personal opinion, I believe that the Assemby of God is the one. Just an opinion though. Uh... btw... though you have posted the generic category of pentecostal, there are numerous variations within that group and all have differing beliefs... so that should prove that characterization/labeling is not cool.

Thanks for your input. I will add Assemby of God to the list.

Please tell us why you support your position.

A christian is one who trusts in , clings to, and relies upon Yeshua the Messiah as his/her crucified sin bearer & resurrected savior.

This trust, clinging, and reliance for eternal salvation is not dependent on one's works or deeds, but is the result of receiving God's mercy for the payment of their sin by faith alone without their individual merit or achievement attached.

A few of those denominations/cults you posted boast in their title and believe that their good works can save them from eternal punishment in the Lake of Fire

Denominations are religion. Salvation by faith is Not A Religion

Roman Catholic - works based - but believe in the Triune Godhead

Greek Orthodox --- works based - Triune Godhead

Seventh Day Adventist -- somewhat works based, Sabbath observance ne cessary for salvation--Triune Godhead

Seventh Day Baptist -- belief in being saved by faith alone w/o works - Triune Godhead

Pentecostal --faith alone w/o works, but soe sects can dwell into works as being necessary such as water baptism for salvation and that you can lose your salvation-- Therefore works based
-Triune Godhead

Mormon -- ALL works based Christ, The Father, and the Holy Spirit are 3 separate Gods and that The Father was once human

Methodist -- belief in being saved by faith alone w/o works - Triune Godhead- - Some sects have strayed from the truth

Shaker --Don't know
Quaker - belief in being saved by faith alone w/o works - Triune Godhead

Amish - belief in being saved by faith alone w/o works - Triune Godhead

Mennonite -Don't know

Unitarian -- Works based--Jesus was an ascended master and is not God-- There are many "paths" to God

Presbyterian -- belief in being saved by faith alone w/o works - Triune Godhead- - Some sects have strayed from the truth

Christian Science- Works based--Jesus is not God

United Church of Christ -- most CoC's believe that water baptism is absolutely necessary for salvation and that you can lose your salvation-- Therefore works based

Episcopal -- belief in being saved by faith alone w/o works - Triune Godhead but take part in Catholic-type processions- -

Jehovah's Witnesses -- ALL works based, Jesus is Not God, but was an angel. The Holy Spirit is not God, but a "force"

Baptist -- Too many sects to count, but have sound doctrinal principles as their roots. Some sects have strayed

Old Apostolic Lutheran
Lutheran
Most Lutheran denoms are straight up on their doctrine as far as salvation is concerned.

Exclamation

"Seventh Day Adventist -- somewhat works based, Sabbath observance ne cessary for salvation--Triune Godhead

Seventh Day Baptist -- belief in being saved by faith alone w/o works - Triune Godhead"

I did a little research on these. It appears that both churches believe that keeping at least one of the Ten Commandments is VERY important. Works plus faith. Thus choosing what day is the day "God" ordered you to observe, instead of Saturday, may cause you to go to a "Lake of Fire".

It is interesting to note that for many generations after Jesus, all Christians observed "God's" special day. A vote by men changed it. I guess that the men believed that they knew better than "God".

What I find so interesting is that from the same sheet of music "The Bible", many different 'tunes' are sung. Which one is correct, if any?

---------------------------

IX. Sabbath
We believe that the Sabbath of the Bible, the seventh day of the week, is sacred time, a gift of God to all people, instituted at creation, affirmed in the Ten Commandments and reaffirmed in the teaching and example of Jesus and the apostles.
We believe that the gift of Sabbath rest is an experience of God's eternal presence with His people.
We believe that in obedience to God and in loving response to His grace in Christ, the Sabbath should be faithfully observed as a day of rest, worship, and celebration.
Genesis 2:2-3; Exodus 16:23-30; Exodus 20:8-11; Matthew 5:17-19; Mark 2:27-28; Luke 4:16; Acts 13:14, 42-44; 16:11-13; 17:2-3; 18:4-11; Ezekiel 20:19-20; Hebrews 4:9-10; John 14:15; Isaiah 58:13-14; Luke 23:56.

Guard your Time with Jesus: We should guard the edges of the Sabbath, before the setting of the sun the family should put all secular work aside, and put all secular papers out of sight. Assemble the family for prayer, reading of the Bible, and singing. If you are the only Sabbath keeper in your family you can do this alone or get together with some friends. See also Psalm 55:17, Hebrews 10:25 We should begin anew to make special arrangements that every member of the family may be prepared to honor the day which God has blessed and sanctified.

"Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:..." Exodus 20:9-10

The Sabbath Hours are not ours but God's. God has given us the whole of six days in which to do our work, and has reserved only one to Himself. This should be a day of blessing to us--a day when we should lay aside all our secular matters and center our thoughts upon God and heaven. We should place a guard upon ourselves, upon our acts and our words, lest we rob God by appropriating to our own use that time which is strictly the Lord's.

"...not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure..." Isaiah 58:13

God Promises to Bless your Obedience: God has made many wonderful promises that will be fulfilled if we love and obey His instructions regarding the Sabbath.

"If thou... call the sabbath a delight,... Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD;" Isaiah 58:13-14

"And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him." Acts 5:32

God designed the Sabbath to be the best day of the week, one that we look forward to as it approaches and a day that we are sad to see come to a close. Through the gift of God's grace and by following His instructions this will be our experience.

"For thus saith the LORD unto the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and take hold of my covenant; Even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off. Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the LORD, to serve him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant; Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people." Isaiah 56:4-7

All who love God should do what they can to make the Sabbath a delight, holy and honorable. They cannot do this by seeking their own pleasure in sinful, forbidden amusements. Yet they can do much to exalt the Sabbath in their families and make it the most interesting day of the week.

The Sabbath should be made so interesting to our families that its weekly return will be hailed with joy. In no better way can parents exalt and honor the Sabbath than by devising means to impart proper instruction to their families and interesting them in spiritual things, giving them correct views of the character of God and what He requires of us in order to perfect Christian characters and attain to eternal life. Parents, make the Sabbath a delight, that your children may look forward to it and have a welcome in their hearts.

Sabbath: Perhaps their most obvious practice which differentiates them from many other churches is that they follow observe Saturday as their weekly Sabbath (from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset). The earliest Christian movement, the Jewish Christians centered in Jerusalem, followed the Jewish Saturday Sabbath. This was changed by the Church Council of Laodicea circa 364 CE, which ordered that future religious observances were to be conducted on Sunday. The Seventh Day Baptist church in the 19th century reverted to the practice of the primitive Christian church and adopted Saturday for religious services. The SDA followed suit.
