Resolutions Require Discipline!
Good Morning,
On this day, January 3, this email comes to minister to you. Happy Tuesday! How are you doing this morning? Its a wonderful day to be a child of God. If you are reading this devotional, you owe God an awesome praise. By reading this devotional it means you are alive to see another year. There were many people who would love to be where you are. In spite of all you endured last year, you made it over to the year 2006. What a mighty God we serve! Now that the new year has begun, so have the traditional resolutions. Many people have started the year out promising to do certain things better. Promises to lose weight, cut down on shopping habits, treat others better, attend church regularly, etc. have been declared. Just as last year, many people start the year on a positive note. The first month or two appears easy. Sound familiar.
This morning, I have been commissioned to come and minister to you. Do you realize during the months of January and February gym memberships set records with new enrollees? Do you realize during the same months diet plans hit all time highs? Is it because people have experienced wake up calls? Absolutely not! Truthfully speaking, businesses capitalize on the strong desires we have to better ourselves from previous years. While our intentions may be good, inwardly our hearts are not as sincere. Having said this, I want to share with you what the Lord spoke to me last week. My friend, Resolutions Require Discipline! No matter how determined you claim to be about doing better, if you lack in the area of discipline its just a matter of time before you backslide. The Bible declares in James 1:22 - But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
My brother, my sister, please do not take this devotional to mean I doubt your abilities. Do not think I am second-guessing your eagerness. However, I am required by the Holy Spirit of God to say to you what the commercials will not. They say what is needed to gain your business (money), but I say what is needed to bring glory unto God. What resolutions have you decided to achieve this year? What plan have you developed to bring this to pass? Beloved, Resolutions Require Discipline! The Bible declares in 1 Timothy 4:7-8 - But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. 8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. As this year unfolds, remember nothing can change in your life if you lack the discipline necessary.
Scripture Reading for Today: Matthew 26:41
May God Bless you at Your point of need!
To God Be The Glory!!
