101 Scientific Facts from the Bible Part I by Jim Tetlow
[quote=weishaupt1776]as far as the Galileo thing:
The Bible described the shape of the earth centuries before people thought that the earth was spherical.
You can access online at http://www.understandthetimes.org/101scientific.shtml For your convenience, I have included the scriptures identified. You can go to the links to get more detailed info. I have read all 101 “Facts” as well as the supporting scriptures, but not all links and thus cannot vouch for them.
Psalm 19:1-3 – The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night reveals knowledge. There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard.
Jeremiah 10:12 – He has made the earth by His power, He has established the world by His wisdom, and has stretched out the heavens at His discretion.
Romans 1:20 – For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse.
Science means knowledge, and true science always agrees with the observable evidence. Scientific research continues to unfold the wonders and mysteries of our universe. Interestingly, there is one book that has anticipated many of these scientific facts. That book is the Bible.
This booklet presents 101 scientific facts found in the Scriptures. Many of these facts were penned centuries before they were discovered. Scientific foreknowledge found only in the Bible offers one more piece to the collective proof that the Bible is truly the inspired Word of the Creator. How does this affect you? The last several pages provide the answer – you need to read them carefully.
1. The earth free-floats in space (Job 26:7), affected only by gravity. While other sources declared the earth sat on the back of an elephant or turtle, or was held up by Atlas, the Bible alone states what we now know to be true – “He hangs the earth on nothing.”
Job 26:7(KJV) 7He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.

2. Creation is made of particles, indiscernible to our eyes (Hebrews 11:3). Not until the 19th century was it discovered that all visible matter consists of invisible elements.
Heb 11:3(KJV) Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

3. The Bible specifies the perfect dimensions for a stable water vessel (Genesis 6:15). Ship builders today are well aware that the ideal dimension for ship stability is a length six times that of the width. Keep in mind, God told Noah the ideal dimensions for the ark 4,500 years ago.
Gen 6:15(KJV) And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.

4. When dealing with disease, clothes and body should be washed under running water (Leviticus 15:13). For centuries people naively washed in standing water. Today we recognize the need to wash away germs with fresh water.
Lev 15:13(KJV) And when he that hath an issue is cleansed of his issue; then he shall number to himself seven days for his cleansing, and wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in running water, and shall be clean.

5. Sanitation industry birthed (Deuteronomy 23:12-13). Some 3,500 years ago God commanded His people to have a place outside the camp where they could relieve themselves. They were to each carry a shovel so that they could dig a hole (latrine) and cover their waste. Up until World War I, more soldiers died from disease than war because they did not isolate human waste.
Deut 23:12(KJV) Thou shalt have a place also without the camp, whither thou shalt go forth abroad:
Deut 23:13(KJV) And thou shalt have a paddle upon thy weapon; and it shall be, when thou wilt ease thyself abroad, thou shalt dig therewith, and shalt turn back and cover that which cometh from thee:

6. Oceans contain springs (Job 38:16). The ocean is very deep. Almost all the ocean floor is in total darkness and the pressure there is enormous. It would have been impossible for Job to have explored the "springs of the sea." Until recently, it was thought that oceans were fed only by rivers and rain. Yet in the 1970s, with the help of deep diving research submarines that were constructed to withstand 6,000 pounds-per-square-inch pressure, oceanographers discovered springs on the ocean floors!
Job 38:16(KJV)Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea? or hast thou walked in the search of the depth?

7. There are mountains on the bottom of the ocean floor (Jonah 2:5-6). Only in the last century have we discovered that there are towering mountains and deep trenches in the depths of the
sea.
Jon 2:5(KJV) The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head.
Jon 2:6(KJV) I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God.

8. Joy and gladness understood (Acts 14:17). Evolution cannot explain emotions. Matter and energy do not feel. Scripture explains that God places gladness in our hearts (Psalm 4:7), and ultimate joy is found only in our Creator’s presence – “in Your presence is fullness of joy” (Psalm 16:11).
Acts 14:17(KJV) Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.
Psa 4:7(KJV) Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased.
Psa 16:11(KJV) Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

9. Blood is the source of life and health (Leviticus 17:11; 14). Up until 120 years ago, sick people were “bled” and many died as a result (e.g. George Washington). Today we know that healthy blood is necessary to bring life-giving nutrients to every cell in the body. God declared that “the life of the flesh is in the blood” long before science understood its function.
Lev 17:11(KJV) For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.
Lev 17:14(KJV) For it is the life of all flesh; the blood of it is for the life thereof: therefore I said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall eat the blood of no manner of flesh: for the life of all flesh is the blood thereof: whosoever eateth it shall be cut off.

10. The Bible states that God created life according to kinds (Genesis 1:24). The fact that God distinguishes kinds, agrees with what scientists observe – namely that there are horizontal genetic boundaries beyond which life cannot vary. Life produces after its own kind. Dogs produce dogs, cats produce cats, roses produce roses. Never have we witnessed one kind changing into another kind as evolution supposes. There are truly natural limits to biological change.
Gen 1:24(KJV) And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.

101 Scientific Facts from the Bible Part 2 by Jim Tetlow more to come
You can access online at http://www.understandthetimes.org/101scientific.shtml For your convenience, I have included the scriptures identified. You can also go to the links included to get more detailed information. Although I have read all 101 “Facts” as well as the supporting scriptures, I have not had the time to go through all the links and therefore cannot vouch for them. Regarding what I have read, I realize that you may not agree with some but I do believe that there will be certain others which you might at the very least find interesting, some perhaps more than others. My hope is that some would be enlightened and that it would cause some to seriously consder the Bible as being God's true word.
11. Noble behavior understood (John 15:13; Romans 5:7-8). The Bible and history reveal that countless people have endangered or even sacrificed their lives for another. This reality is completely at odds with Darwin’s theory of the survival of the fittest.
John 15:13(KJV) Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
Rom 5:7(KJV) For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
Rom 5:8(KJV) But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

12. Chicken or egg dilemma solved (Genesis 1:20-22). Which came first, the chicken or the egg? This question has plagued philosophers for centuries. The Bible states that God created birds with the ability to reproduce after their kind. Therefore the chicken was created first with the ability to make eggs! Yet, evolution has no solution for this dilemma.
Gen 1:20(KJV) And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.
Gen 1:21(KJV) And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
Gen 1:22(KJV) And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.

13. Which came first, proteins or DNA (Revelation 4:11)? For evolutionists, the chicken or egg dilemma goes even deeper. Chickens consist of proteins. The code for each protein is contained in the DNA/RNA system. However, proteins are required in order to manufacture DNA. So which came first: proteins or DNA? The ONLY explanation is that they were created together.
Rev 4:11(KJV) hou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

14. Our bodies are made from the dust of the ground (Genesis 2:7; 3:19). Scientists have discovered that the human body is comprised of some 28 base and trace elements – all of which are found in the earth.
Gen 2:7(KJV) And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
Gen 3:19(KJV) In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

15. The First Law of Thermodynamics established (Genesis 2:1-2). The First Law states that the total quantity of energy and matter in the universe is a constant. One form of energy or matter may be converted into another, but the total quantity always remains the same. Therefore the creation is finished, exactly as God said way back in Genesis.
Gen 2:1(KJV) Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
Gen 2:2(KJV) And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

16. The first three verses of Genesis accurately express all known aspects of the creation (Genesis 1:1-3). Science expresses the universe in terms of: time, space, matter, and energy. In Genesis chapter one we read: “In the beginning (time) God created the heavens (space) and the earth (matter)…Then God said, “Let there be light (energy).” No other creation account agrees with the observable evidence.
Gen 1:1(KJV) In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Gen 1:2(KJV) And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
Gen 1:3(KJV) And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
________________________________________
17. The universe had a beginning (Genesis 1:1; Hebrews 1:10-12). Starting with the studies of Albert Einstein in the early 1900s and continuing today, science has confirmed the biblical view that the universe had a beginning. When the Bible was written most people believed the universe was eternal. Science has proven them wrong, but the Bible correct.
Gen 1:1(KJV) In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Heb 1:10(KJV) And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:
Heb 1:11(KJV) They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment;
Heb 1:12(KJV) And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.

18. The earth is a sphere (Isaiah 40:22). At a time when many thought the earth was flat, the Bible told us that the earth is spherical.
Isa 40:22(KJV) It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:

19. Scripture assumes a revolving (spherical) earth (Luke 17:34-36). Jesus said that at His return some would be asleep at night while others would be working at day time activities in the field. This is a clear indication of a revolving earth, with day and night occurring simultaneously.
Luke 17:34(KJV) I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.
Luke 17:35(KJV) Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Luke 17:36(KJV) Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

20. Origin of the rainbow explained (Genesis 9:13-16). Prior to the Flood there was a different environment on the earth (Genesis 2:5-6). After the Flood, God set His rainbow “in the cloud” as a sign that He would never again judge the earth by water. Meteorologists now understand that a rainbow is formed when the sun shines through water droplets – which act as a prism – separating white light into its color spectrum.
Gen 9:13(KJV) I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.
Gen 9:14(KJV) And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:
Gen 9:15(KJV) And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.
Gen 9:16(KJV) And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.

101 Scientific Facts from the Bible Part 3 by Jim Tetlow
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You can access online at http://www.understandthetimes.org/101scientific.shtml For your convenience, I have included the scriptures identified. My hope is that some would be enlightened and that it would cause some to seriously consder the Bible as being God's true word.
21. Light can be divided (Job 38:24). Sir Isaac Newton studied light and discovered that white light is made of seven colors, which can be “parted” and then recombined. Science confirmed this four centuries ago – God declared this four millennia ago!
Job 38:24(KJV) By what way is the light parted, which scattereth the east wind upon the earth?

22. Ocean currents anticipated (Psalm 8:8). Three thousand years ago the Bible described the “paths of the seas.” In the 19th century Matthew Maury – the father of oceanography – after reading Psalm 8, researched and discovered ocean currents that follow specific paths through the seas! Utilizing Maury’s data, marine navigators have since reduced by many days the time required to traverse the seas.
Psa 8:8(KJV) The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.

23. Sexual promiscuity is dangerous to your health (1 Corinthians 6:18; Romans 1:27). The Bible warns that “he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body,” and that those who commit homosexual sin would “receive in themselves” the penalty of their error. Much data now confirms that any sexual relationship outside of holy matrimony is unsafe.
1 Cor 6:18(KJV) Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.
Rom 1:26(KJV) For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
Rom 1:27(KJV) And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet.

24. Reproduction explained (Genesis 1:27-28; 2:24; Mark 10:6-8). While evolution has no mechanism to explain how male and female reproductive organs evolved at the same time, the Bible says that from the beginning God made them male and female in order to propagate the human race and animal kinds.
Gen 1:27(KJV) So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
Gen 1:28(KJV) And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
Gen 2:24(KJV) Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
Mark 10:6(KJV) But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.
Mark 10:7(KJV) For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;
Mark 10:8(KJV) And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.

25. Incalculable number of stars (Jeremiah 33:22). At a time when less than 5,000 stars were visible to the human eye, God stated that the stars of heaven were innumerable. Not until the 17th century did Galileo glimpse the immensity of our universe with his new telescope. Today, astronomers estimate that there are ten thousand billion trillion stars – that’s a 1 followed by 25 zeros! Yet, as the Bible states, scientists admit this number may be woefully inadequate.
Jer 33:22(KJV) As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured: so will I multiply the seed of David my servant, and the Levites that minister unto me.
Visit: The Stars of Heaven (Institute For Creation Research) http://www.icr.org/index.php?module=...ion=view&ID=57
________________________________________
26. The number of stars, though vast, are finite (Isaiah 40:26). Although man is unable to calculate the exact number of stars, we now know their number is finite. Of course God knew this all along – “He counts the number of the stars; He calls them all by name” (Psalm 147:4). What an awesome God!
Isa 40:26(KJV) Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.
Visit: See link at 25 for The Stars of Heaven.
________________________________________
27. The Bible compares the number of stars with the number of grains of sand on the seashore (Genesis 22:17; Hebrews 11:12). Amazingly, gross estimates of the number of sand grains are comparable to the estimated number of stars in the universe.
Gen 22:17(KJV) That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;
Heb 11:12(KJV) Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable.

28. Rejecting the Creator results in moral depravity (Romans 1:20-32). The Bible warns that when mankind rejects the overwhelming evidence for a Creator, lawlessness will result. Since the theory of evolution has swept the globe, abortion, *****graphy, genocide, etc., have all risen sharply.

29. The fact that God once flooded the earth (the Noahic Flood) would be denied (2 Peter 3:5-6). There is a mass of fossil evidence to prove this fact, yet it is flatly ignored by most of the scientific world because it was God’s judgment on man’s wickedness.
2 Pet 3:5(KJV) For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
2 Pet 3:6(KJV) Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
________________________________________
30. Vast fossil deposits anticipated (Genesis 7). When plants and animals die they decompose rapidly. Yet billions of life forms around the globe have been preserved as fossils. Geologists now know that fossils only form if there is rapid deposition of life buried away from scavengers and bacteria. This agrees exactly with what the Bible says occurred during the global Flood.
Visit: The Origin of Coal ICR) http://www.icr.org/index.php?module=...ion=view&ID=87
________________________________________
31. The continents were created as one large land mass (Genesis 1:9-10). Many geologists agree there is strong evidence that the earth was originally one super continent – just as the Bible said way back in Genesis.
Gen 1:9(KJV) And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.
Gen 1:10(KJV) And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.
________________________________________
32. Continental drift inferred (Genesis 7:11). Today the study of the ocean floor indicates that the landmasses have been ripped apart. Scripture states that during the global Flood the “fountains of the great deep were broken up.” This cataclysmic event apparently resulted in the continental plates breaking and shifting.
Gen 7:11(KJV) In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.

Why does God bless the Wicked part I of II
Matt 5:44(KJV) But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
Matt 5:45(KJV) That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
Matt 5:46(KJV) For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
Matt 5:47(KJV) And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
Earthly Blessings vs. Heavenly
With regards to what some may perceive as to “earthly blessings”, this is not the same as eternal judgment. Some of us equate our earthly possessions with God’s favor towards us. Although God can bless with earthly possessions at times, this is not necessarily always the case. Jesus said in the Gospel of Mark,
Mark 8:36(KJV) For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
Mark 8:37(KJV) Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
Jesus also says to us in Mathew
Matthew 6:25 - 34 (KJV) 25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? 26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? 27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? 28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: 29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? 31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. 34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
Parable of the Rich Man :
Luke 12:16(KJV) And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:
Luke 12:17(KJV),And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?
Luke 12:18(KJV),And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.
Luke 12:19(KJV) And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
Luke 12:20(KJV) But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
Luke 12:21(KJV) So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
Just prior to giving the parable, Jesus said in the previous verse,
Luke 12:15(KJV) And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
covetousness - G4124 πλεονεξία pleonexia pleh-on-ex-ee'-ah
From G4123; avarice, that is, (by implication) fraudulency, extortion:—covetous (-ness) practices, greediness.
Peter says in 2 Pet 3:9(KJV) The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
willing - G1014 βούλομαι boulomai boo'-lom-ahee
Middle voice of a primary verb; to “will” , that is, (reflexively) be willing:—be disposed, minded, intend, list (be, of own) will (-ing). Compare G2309.
longsuffering - G3114 μακροθυμέω makrothumeō mak-roth-oo-meh'-o
From the same as G3116; to be long spirited, that is, (objectively) forbearing or (subjectively) patient:—bear (suffer) long, be longsuffering, have (long) patience, be patient, patiently endure.
perish - G622 ἀπόλλυμι apollumi ap-ol'-loo-mee
From G575 and the base of G3639; to destroy fully (reflexively to perish, or lose), literally or figuratively:—destroy, die, lose, mar, perish.
One thing that is true is that God loves all mankind, yet he hates their sinful actions. Another way put, God hates sin, but loves the sinner which includes the wicked. Why, because for one we were all sinners at one time or another and two, He is patient and longsuffering, desiring that all men would repent and turn to Him. It is speculated that Noah preached for 120 years prior to the flood and there were no takers (other than his family). Yet during that time, we are told that they were eating, drinking and marrying for all 120 years. Yet God gave them all time to repent, because He is patient and longsuffering, just as He is patient and longsuffering today, giving mankind the opportuntiy to get it right. It is not His will that men should die. Yes, He allows certain things to happen for reasons unbeknown to us but it’s not His intention for us neither is it His intention that we suffer. Yes, He finds ways to use the evil things of this world for our benefit. Some may go their entire life living large but the question becomes where will they spend their eternity? That great life (see Lazarus and the rich man in Luke 16) and you find an example where a rich man who is now dead and in hell, looks across the gulf into Paradise where he sees residing in Abraham’s bosom, a beggar whose name was Lazarus who had eaten the crumbs from the rich man’s table while the dogs licked his sores during their days on earth. Now the rich man is begging and Lazarus is in Paradise.
You aren’t the first to notice or be troubled by the seemingly good life of the wicked.
The Psalmist said in Psalm 82
Psa 82:1(KJV) God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods.
Psa 82:2(KJV) How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked?
In Ecclesiastes the Preacher said
Eccl 7:15(KJV) All things have I seen in the days of my vanity: there is a just man that perisheth in his righteousness, and there is a wicked man that prolongeth his life in his wickedness.
Asaph in Psalm 73 tells us how troubled he was by the apparent prosperity of the wicked. Here he describes the wicked and their characteristics:
Psa 73:1(KJV) Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart.
Psa 73:2(KJV) But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped.
Psa 73:3(KJV) For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
Psa 73:4(KJV) For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm.
bands - H2784 חַרְצֻבָּה chartsûbbâh khar-tsoob-baw'
Of uncertain derivation; a fetter; figuratively a pain:—band.
firm - H1277 בָּרִיא bârı̂y’ baw-ree'
From H1254 (in the sense of H1262): fatted or plump:—fat ([fleshed], -ter), fed, firm, plenteous, rank.
Psa 73:5(KJV) They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men.
Psa 73:6(KJV) Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment.
Psa 73:7(KJV) Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish.
Psa 73:8(KJV) They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily.
loftily - H4791 מָרוֹם mârôm maw-rome'
From H7311; altitude, that is, concretely (an elevated place), abstractly (elevation), fig (elation), or adverbial (aloft):—(far) above, dignity, haughty, height, (most, on) high (one, place), loftily, upward.
Psa 73:9(KJV) They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.
Psa 73:10(KJV) Therefore his people return hither: and waters of a full cup are wrung out to them.
Psa 73:11(KJV) And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High?
Men start to question God’s wisdom. Are some of us guilty of that at times?
Psa 73:12(KJV) Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches.
Psa 73:13(KJV) Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency.
cleansed - H2135 זָכָה zâkâh zaw-kaw'
A primitive root (compare H2141); to be translucent; figuratively to be innocent:—be (make) clean, cleanse, be clear, count pure.
vain - H7385 רִיק rı̂yq reek
Asaph starts to wonder if maybe his living a godly life is in vain..
Psa 73:14(KJV) For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning.
The word plagued (Hebrew naga) means to literally be beaten.
Psa 73:15(KJV) If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend against the generation of thy children.
He says here that if he speaks as he is speaking, he risks offending other believers. He is suffering a great deal because of this.
Psa 73:16(KJV) When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me;
painful - H5999 עָמָל ‛âmâl aw-mawl'
From H5998; toil, that is, wearing effort; hence worry, whether of body or mind:—grievance (-vousness), iniquity, labour, mischief, miserable (-sery), pain (-ful), perverseness, sorrow, toil, travail, trouble, wearisome, wickedness.
He says that when he came to this knowledge, it became too painful for him. I believe some of us feel the same way, that it is too painful for us.

Why does it seem that God sometimes blesses the Wicked Part II cont'd
Psa 73:17(KJV) Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end.
He tells us that it was not until he went into the sanctuary, that he was able to understand what their end result would be. And he now tells us what that end result is.
Psa 73:18(KJV) Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction.
They are going to be cast into destruction.
Psa 73:19(KJV) How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors.
moment - H7281 רֶגַע rega‛ reh'-gah
From H7280; a wink (of the eyes), that is, a very short space of time:—instant, moment, space, suddenly.
Notice the word moment (rega). It’s interesting. The wicked, who may be on top of the world in their earthly lives for a moment, could be gone in a flash, or in the wink of an eye. All it takes is a very short space of time for God to end someone’s life as we see in the parable of the rich man in Luke 12. He decided that he had accumulated so much wealth that he would be able to take it easy for the rest of his life. God decided to end it right there and then asks who would receive all that wealth he had accumulated. We also see what happens to those who live ungodly lives but seemingly profit on earth at the expense of others in Luke 16:9 (the rich man and Lazarus). We also see in this what happens to those who live righteous lives but maybe don’t have it so good while on this earth.
Psa 73:20(KJV) As a dream when one awaketh; so, O Lord, when thou awakest, thou shalt despise their image.
Psa 73:21(KJV) Thus my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins.
grieved - H2556 חָמֵץ châmêts khaw-mates'
A primitive root; to be pungent; that is, in taste (sour, that is, literally fermented, or figuratively harsh), in color (dazzling):—cruel (man), dyed, be grieved, leavened.
pricked - H8150 שָׁנַן shânan shaw-nan'
A primitive root; to point (transitively or intransitively); intensively to pierce; figuratively to inculcate:—prick, sharp (-en), teach diligently, whet.
reins - H3629 כִּלְיָה kilyâh kil-yaw'
Feminine of H3627 (only in the plural); a kidney (as an essential organ); figuratively the mind (as the interior self):—kidneys, reins.
He goes on to tell us how distressed he was but then finally starts to repent.
Psa 73:22(KJV) So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee.
Asaph recognizes his ignorance and reaffirms his faith.
Psa 73:23(KJV) Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand.
Psa 73:24(KJV) Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.
He begins to once again trust God.
Psa 73:25(KJV) Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.
And acknowledges his hopelessness without God.
Psa 73:26(KJV) My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.
Psa 73:27(KJV) For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee.
And he no longer worries about those who do evil as he trusts that God will take care of it. Trusting God to judge righteously and to deal with those people accordingly is part of having faith in Him.
Psa 73:28(KJV) But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.
He begins to praise God again. We must recognize that faith is not only believing in Jesus as the Son of God, but trusting Him (in all things) which I admit is not always easy for us.
The Psalmist in Psalm 94 asks some of these same questions:
Psa 94:1(KJV) O LORD God, to whom vengeance belongeth; O God, to whom vengeance belongeth, show thyself.
Psa 94:2(KJV) Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth: render a reward to the proud.
Psa 94:3(KJV) LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph?
Psa 94:4(KJV) How long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves?
Psa 94:5(KJV) They break in pieces thy people, O LORD, and afflict thine heritage.
Psa 94:6(KJV) They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless.
Psa 94:7(KJV) Yet they say, The LORD shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob regard it.
Psa 94:8(KJV) Understand, ye brutish among the people: and ye fools, when will ye be wise?
Psa 94:9(KJV) He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see?
Psa 94:10(KJV) He that chastiseth the heathen, shall not he correct? he that teacheth man knowledge, shall not he know?
Psa 94:11(KJV) The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.
Psa 94:12(KJV) Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O LORD, and teachest him out of thy law;
Psa 94:13(KJV) That thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit be digged for the wicked.
Psa 94:14(KJV) For the LORD will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance.
Psa 94:15(KJV) But judgment shall return unto righteousness: and all the upright in heart shall follow it.
Psa 94:16(KJV) Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?
Psa 94:17(KJV)Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence.
Psa 94:18(KJV) When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O LORD, held me up.
Psa 94:19(KJV) In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.
Psa 94:20(KJV) Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law?
Psa 94:21(KJV) They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.
Psa 94:22(KJV) But the LORD is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge.
Psa 94:23(KJV) And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea, the LORD our God shall cut them off.
Other Scriptures regarding the Wicked.
Psa 119:155(KJV) Salvation is far from the wicked: for they seek not thy statutes.
Psa 145:20(KJV) The LORD preserveth all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy.
Psa 147:6(KJV) The LORD lifteth up the meek: he casteth the wicked down to the ground.
Prov 2:22(KJV) But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.
Prov 3:33(KJV) The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just.
Prov 3:35(KJV) The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.
Prov 11:21(KJV) Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.
Prov 11:31(KJV) Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth: much more the wicked and the sinner.
Prov 12:2(KJV) A good man obtaineth favour of the LORD: but a man of wicked devices will he condemn.
Prov 12:13(KJV) The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble.
Prov 15:29(KJV) The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.
Prov 24:19(KJV) Fret not thyself because of evil men, neither be thou envious at the wicked,
Prov 24:20(KJV) For there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out.
Eccl 8:10(KJV)And so I saw the wicked buried, who had come and gone from the place of the holy, and they were forgotten in the city where they had so done: this is also vanity.
Notice this next verse.
Eccl 8:11(KJV) Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily,, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.
The sentence is God’s judgment against those who do evil. He tells us it is not always speedily executed, however this does not mean that it won’t be executed and we can be sure that it will.
Eccl 8:12(KJV) Though a sinner do evil an hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him:
Let us not concern ourselves with those who seem to be getting away with things, let us just be blessed that it will be well with us.
Eccl 8:13(KJV) But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow; because he feareth not before God.
Eccl 8:14(KJV) There is a vanity which is done upon the earth; that there be just men, unto whom it happeneth according to the work of the wicked; again, there be wicked men, to whom it happeneth according to the work of the righteous: I said that this also is vanity.
I believe that what the writer is telling us is telling us is that at times evil befalls even the righteous due to wicked men and that sometimes good befalls the wicked because of what the good person does. This stands to reason because a truly godly person will try to help others, even those who may seem wicked in the hope that it might help to effect a change in their life by the example being set. Of course this doesn’t always work.
The Lord Keeps His Promises
The Lord does not absolve the wicked of their evil actions and will eventually judge them for it.
Paul says to us in his Epistle to the Galations:
Gal 6:7(KJV) Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
Gal 6:8(KJV) For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
Gal 6:9(KJV) And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
Regardless of what we see with those who seem to be benefiting unjustly, let’s not give up and continue to live our lives according to the way that we know we should.

101 Scientific Facts from the Bible Part 4 by Jim Tetlow
33. Ice Age inferred (Job 38:29-30). Prior to the global Flood the earth was apparently subtropical. However shortly after the Flood, the Bible mentions ice often – “By the breath of God ice is given, and the broad waters are frozen” (Job 37:10). Evidently the Ice Age occurred in the centuries following the Flood.
Job 38:29(KJV) Out of whose womb came the ice? and the hoary frost of heaven, who hath gendered it?
Job 38:30(KJV) The waters are hid as with a stone, and the face of the deep is frozen.
Job 37:10(KJV) By the breath of God frost is given: and the breadth of the waters is straitened.

34. Life begins at fertilization (Jeremiah 1:5). God declares that He knew us before we were born. The biblical penalty for murdering an unborn child was death (Exodus 21:22-23). Today, it is an irrefutable biological fact that the fertilized egg is truly an entire human being. Nothing will be added to the first cell except nutrition and oxygen.
Jer 1:5(KJV) Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
Ex 21:22(KJV) If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman’s husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.
Ex 21:23(KJV) And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life,

35. God fashions and knits us together in the womb (Job 10:8-12; 31:15). Science was ignorant concerning embryonic development until recently. Yet many centuries ago, the Bible accurately described God making us an “intricate unity” in the womb.
Job 10:8(KJV) Thine hands have made me and fashioned me together round about; yet thou dost destroy me.
Job 10:9(KJV) Remember, I beseech thee, that thou hast made me as the clay; and wilt thou bring me into dust again?
Job 10:10(KJV) Hast thou not poured me out as milk, and curdled me like cheese?
Job 10:11(KJV) Thou hast clothed me with skin and flesh, and hast fenced me with bones and sinews.
Job 10:12(KJV) Thou hast granted me life and favour, and thy visitation hath preserved my spirit.
Job 31:15(KJV) Did not he that made me in the womb make him? and did not one fashion us in the womb?

36. DNA anticipated (Psalm 139:13-16). During the 1950s, Watson and Crick discovered the genetic blueprint for life. Three thousand years ago the Bible seems to reference this written digital code in Psalm 139 – “Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect [unformed]; and in Thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.”
Psa 139:13(KJV) For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.
Psa 139:14(KJV) I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
Psa 139:15(KJV) My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
Psa 139:16(KJV) 1Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

37. God has created all mankind from one blood (Acts 17:26; Genesis 5). Today researchers have discovered that we have all descended from one gene pool. For example, a 1995 study of a section of Y chromosomes from 38 men from different ethnic groups around the world was consistent with the biblical teaching that we all come from one man (Adam)
Acts 17:26(KJV) And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;

38. Origin of the major language groups explained (Genesis 11). After the rebellion at Babel, God scattered the people by confounding the one language into many languages. Evolution teaches that we all evolved from a common ancestor, yet offers no mechanism to explain the origin of the thousands of diverse languages in existence today.

39. Origin of the different “races” explained (Genesis 11). As Noah’s descendants migrated around the world after Babel, each language group developed distinct features based on environment and genetic variation. Those with a genetic makeup suitable to their new environment survived to reproduce. Over time, certain traits (such as dark skin color for those closer to the equator) dominated. Genesis alone offers a reasonable answer to the origin of the races and languages.

40. God has given us the leaves of the trees as medicine (Ezekiel 47:12; Revelation 22:2). Ancient cultures utilized many herbal remedies. Today, modern medicine has rediscovered what the Bible has said all along – there are healing compounds found in plants.
Ezek 47:12(KJV) And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine.
Rev 22:2(KJV) In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
41. Healthy dietary laws (Leviticus 11:9-12). Scripture states that we should avoid those sea creatures which do not have fins or scales. We now know that bottom-feeders (those with no scales or fins) tend to consume waste and are likely to carry disease.
Lev 11:9(KJV) These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat.
Lev 11:10(KJV) And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you:
Lev 11:11(KJV) They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination.
Lev 11:12(KJV) Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you.

42. The Bible warns against eating birds of prey (Leviticus 11:13-19). Scientists now recognize that those birds which eat carrion (putrefying flesh), often spread disease.
Lev 11:13(KJV) And these are they which ye shall have in abomination among the fowls; they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the ospray,
Lev 11:14(KJV) And the vulture, and the kite after his kind;
Lev 11:15(KJV) Every raven after his kind;
Lev 11:16(KJV) And the owl, and the night hawk, and the cuckoo, and the hawk after his kind,
Lev 11:17(KJV) And the little owl, and the cormorant, and the great owl,

101 Scientific Facts from the Bible Part 5 by Jim Tetlow
43. Avoid swine (Deuteronomy 14:8). Not so long ago, science learned that eating undercooked pork causes an infection of parasites called trichinosis. Now consider this: the Bible forbid the eating of swine more than 3,000 years before we learned how to cook pork safely.
Deut 14:8(KJV) And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you: ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcase.

44. Radical environmentalism foreseen (Romans 1:25). Two thousand years ago, God’s Word stated that many would worship and serve creation rather than the Creator. Today, nature is revered as “Mother” and naturalism is enshrined.
Rom 1:25(KJV) Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

45. Black holes and dark matter anticipated (Matthew 25:30; Jude 1:13; Isaiah 50:3). Cosmologists now speculate that over 98% of the known universe is comprised of dark matter, with dark energy and black holes. A black hole’s gravitational field is so strong that nothing, not even light, escapes. Beyond the expanding universe there is no measured radiation and therefore only outer darkness exists. These theories paint a seemingly accurate description of what the Bible calls “outer darkness” or “the blackness of darkness forever.”
Matt 25:30(KJV) And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Jude 1:13(KJV) Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.
Isa 50:3(KJV) I clothe the heavens with blackness, and I make sackcloth their covering.

46. The Second Law of Thermodynamics (Entropy) explained (Psalm 102:25-26). This law states that everything in the universe is running down, deteriorating, constantly becoming less and less orderly. Entropy (disorder) entered when mankind rebelled against God – resulting in the curse (Genesis 3:17; Romans 8:20-22). Historically most people believed the universe was unchangeable. Yet modern science verifies that the universe is “grow(ing) old like a garment” (Hebrews 1:11). Evolution directly contradicts this law.
Psa 102:25(KJV) Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands.
Psa 102:26(KJV) They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed:
Gen 3:17(KJV) And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
Rom 8:20(KJV) For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,
Rom 8:21(KJV) Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
Rom 8:22(KJV) For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.

47. Cain’s wife discovered (Genesis 5:4). Skeptics point out that Cain had no one to marry – therefore the Bible must be false. However, the Bible states plainly that Adam and Eve had other sons and daughters. Cain married his sister.
Gen 5:4(KJV) And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters:

48. ****** laws established (Leviticus 18:6). To marry near of kin in the ancient world was common. Yet, beginning about 1500 B.C., God forbid this practice. The reason is simple – the genetic mutations (resulting from the curse) had a cumulative effect. Though Cain could safely marry his sister because the genetic pool was still relatively pure at that time, by Moses’ day the genetic errors had swelled. Today, geneticists confirm that the risk of passing on a genetic abnormality to your child is much greater if you marry a close relative because relatives are more likely to carry the same defective gene. If they procreate, their offspring are more apt to have this defect expressed.

49. Genetic mixing of different seeds forbidden (Leviticus 19:19; Deuteronomy 22:9). The Bible warns against mixing seeds – as this will result in an inferior or dangerous crop. There is now growing evidence that unnatural, genetically engineered crops may be harmful.
Lev 19:19(KJV) Ye shall keep my statutes. Thou shalt not let thy cattle gender with a diverse kind: thou shalt not sow thy field with mingled seed: neither shall a garment mingled of linen and woollen come upon thee.
Deut 22:9(KJV) Thou shalt not sow thy vineyard with divers seeds: lest the fruit of thy seed which thou hast sown, and the fruit of thy vineyard, be defiled.
50. Hydrological cycle described (Ecclesiastes 1:7; Jeremiah 10:13; Amos 9:6). Four thousand years ago the Bible declared that God “draws up drops of water, which distill as rain from the mist, which the clouds drop down and pour abundantly on man” (Job 36:27-28). The ancients observed mighty rivers flowing into the ocean, but they could not conceive why the sea level never rose. Though they observed rainfall, they had only quaint theories as to its origin. Meteorologists now understand that the hydrological cycle consists of evaporation, atmospheric transportation, distillation, and precipitation.
Eccl 1:7(KJV) All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again.
Jer 10:13(KJV) When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens, and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures.
Amos 9:6(KJV) It is he that buildeth his stories in the heaven, and hath founded his troop in the earth; he that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his name.
Job 36:27(KJV) For he maketh small the drops of water: they pour down rain according to the vapour thereof:
Job 36:28(KJV) Which the clouds do drop and distil upon man abundantly.
51. The sun goes in a circuit (Psalm 19:6). Some scientists scoffed at this verse thinking that it taught geocentricity – the theory that the sun revolves around the earth. They insisted the sun was stationary. However, we now know that the sun is traveling through space at approximately 600,000 miles per hour. It is literally moving through space in a huge circuit – just as the Bible stated 3,000 years ago!
Psa 19:6(KJV) His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.
52. Circumcision on the eighth day is ideal (Genesis 17:12; Leviticus 12:3; Luke 1:59). Medical science has discovered that the blood clotting chemical prothrombin peaks in a newborn on the eighth day. This is therefore the safest day to circumcise a baby. How did Moses know?!
Gen 17:12(KJV) 12And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed.
Lev 12:3(KJV) And in the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.
Luke 1:59(KJV) And it came to pass, that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child; and they called him Zacharias, after the name of his father.

53. God has given us just the right amount of water to sustain life (Isaiah 40:12). We now recognize that if there was significantly more or less water, the earth would not support life as we know it.
Isa 40:12(KJV) Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?

I appreciate the spirit of study, Tim, and I appreciate all the detailed info in your posts above pointing out the aspects of the biblical writings which are proving out to be relatively factual and intelligent.
I share the spirit of study, and the desire for truth.
Frankly, I'd be surprised if some of the info in the Bible wasn't basically correct and factual. It was written by reasonably literate and intelligent men, after all, and not by utter fools.
I do believe in inspiration, and I have personally experienced inspiration and leadings which have guided me flawlessly many times. I believe we are all able to tap into the universal intelligence which organizes and creates this universe.
If not for the fact that many biblical writings also state nonsensical and illogical things (like the sun rotating around the Earth, and stopping in the sky... or a woman conversing with a talking snake, or a woman turning into a pillar of salt...), it might pass for infallible... but unfortunately there are also many many illogical and incorrect and unscientific biblical scriptures in addition to those which are reasonably intelligent and knowledgeable (which you've catalogued above).
For instance, I used to believe that all the species were fixed as well, until I dared to venture into the realm of up-to-date evolutionary scientists and ask some some tough questions (I don't just do that here!):

Visit their Evolution/Creation forum and ask about the newly discovered "ring species" - existing species which evolved across a particular area over a period of time, still exist in their various stages, and gradually changed to the point where the earliest editions cannot interbreed with the later editions and produce live offspring. This recently discovered information convinced me that evolution has happened and is still happening.
