What is Hell?
Sorry for the misunderstanding. I did use the word "thought" to indicate that I was not sure.
Would you agree that the Lake of Fire is where things meet their final end and cease to exist?
(Matthew 25:41)
"Then shall he [Jesus at judgment] say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels."
Isn't the Lake of Fire being referenced here?
Ezekiel 28:15-19 confirms that Satan will be destroyed, concluding an address to him with these words: "...thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more."
Hebrews 2:14
"Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death--that is, the devil--"
Here it says that Satan will be no more- cease to exist. Which would make sense if he were cast into the Lake of Fire and the Lake of Fire was where things meet their final end.
Revelation 21:8
"But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death."
Malachi 4:3
"And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of hosts" (Malachi 4:3).
If something is reduced to ashes, doesn't it mean that it has met it's final end and ceased to be?
1 Corinthians 15:26
"The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. "
This is interesting because it shows that even death will cease to exist. If death is not death but only separation from God then this passage appears to be saying that the separation from God will come to an end. That doesn't make sense really so death in this context must be defined as - cease to exist.
Revelation 11:18:
"And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth."
"Destroy" in this verse is from the Greek word diaphtheiro which Strong's Hebrew and Greek Dictionaries defines as "corrupt, perish."
Here is something else I was thinking about.
We agree that the gift of God is eternal or everlasting life. I am certain that this gift is reserved for the saved only. If you agree to this also then I am sure that you can see a problem. It appears that the unsaved are also given eternal life.
I dunno, to sum it up, it seems to me that we shall all go to our grave like Lazarus (Jesus' Friend) and await to be resurrected like Lazarus. Apparently, the saved will be resurrected at the appointed time and live 1000 years in the Kingdom that Jesus spoke of. After that, the unsaved will be resurrected and given a chance to accept Jesus' offer of redemption. Those who do not accept it, look like they will be cast into a Lake of Fire along with Satan and cease to exist.
