No income tax is better than any of these other tax schemes, in my opinion.

Abolish Property Taxes!
Make Social Security Optional; and abolish the tax brackets for the income tax (it should be a flat rate and no more than 20%);
No Federal Retail Tax because that would be a monopoly and would not allow competition between states.

The Fairtax is a fraud and a scam proposed by ignorant do-gooders too lazy to approach the problem head on and instead are willing to replace a cancer with a virus.
The lack of intellectual integrity by these proponents cannot be questioned simply because this is a revenue neutral tax. The status quo continues. This will operate just like a VAT. The PTB must be having orgasms over such a proposal.
Does anyone seriously think that the IRS or 16 amendment will be abolished? Only for those that cannot think seriously.
The problem, as we all know, begins way down that rabbit hole. Anything short of an excavation is merely window dressing and only prolongs the inevitable.
The dollar, a.k.a. FRN is toast, as is our way of life as we know it. Its not a matter of if but when and a band aid certainly won't heal the cut. Gangrene has set in and nothing short of amputation is necessary.

Thou shalt not steal...
The BEST tax is NO tax at all! "Thou shalt not steal"! What don't people understand about this simple statement?

and then
So you don't want any taxes?
Personally, I like having a military to protect me from Islamic fascists who want to kill me, a fire department to call if my house is in danger of burning down, paved roads to drive on, prisons to keep dangerously violent sociopaths in, and many other things that taxes pay for.
Sometimes, like most people, I feel I am being taxed too much. But if there were no taxes at all, our lives would be much worse in many ways.

No, I don't want taxes (THEFT), in fact I don't even want a Gov. (other people with their own interests instead of mine) either. I want us, as Sovereigns, to be able to rule ourselves and make our own decisions about our lives . We are all FREE people, no person should have the right to control another person in anyway, as long as people don't infringe on other's rights, we can all live in peace and freedom.
As for the services u mentioned, I would BUY them as I buy other things, I don't need the Gov. to tell me how to spend MY hard earned money or to FORCE me to pay for services I don't need, want or use. (Like the worthless public school system) Why should I pay property/school taxes (even though I don't anymore) for a service I don't even use? Let the people who use it pay for it.
As for the military, I wouldn't mind paying a VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTION, IF, we need to defend our common interests (e.g. The country was under attack or some national emergency or disaster). But I DO NOT WANT TO BE FORCED to pay for an illegal war in Iraq which I DO NOT agree with, let the Israelis fight this war, let them send their kids to death!
Also, the "International Zionists" who control us are far more dangerous than some crazy Islamic nuts living in caves in 3rd world countries. If they want to live that way, let them, it's none of our business but we have no business going to other people's homelands and telling them how to live, we need to clean up our own house instead.

get a grip, guys
I don't work for the government. My salary does not come from taxes.
And to "International American": thanks for confirming that you're an anarchist who hates Jews. (I'm not Jewish, but I never met or heard of a Jew who wanted to kill me for not converting to their religion. Muslims, on the other hand...well, just read the Koran, especially the 8th and 9th chapters. You might have your eyes opened.)
In any event, now I know better than to pay any attention to your ranting and raving in the future.
