Gold/silver bullion or coin sources

I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this question so if it is not please delete it or move it to the appropriate one. I tried performing a search for this but nothing as far as sources came up. Maybe I need more practice with the search engine. Anyway, I keep hearing about the signs that something bad will be coming very soon, escpecially in the "end of days" forum. So, I want to be prepared with gold or silver and only keep as little as needed FRNs. My question is does anybody have experience with sources for these and will these sources report your purchases whether small or large?

Thanks,
Scott

Some jewelry stores...

Some jewelry stores may also sell silver by the ounce .999 fine in bullion form.

Try coin dealers or maybe pawn shops. Coin dealers will order bullion for you if they do not have it on hand.

I've been buying silver on and off about 2 years.I think(opinion) that buying directly from a mint is the most hassle free. You can shop on ebay but you have to be sharp as well as you have to figure in shipping\feedback score etc.I have dealt with north west territorial mint once and outside of a slightly tardy delivery they were a decent deal. There are several mints out there so I'd encourage shipping around.N.W.T. mint at the time charged $0.45 over spot for 1000 oz or less $0.40 for over 1000 oz.Good hunting!

I deal with these folks when I buy.

They are out of Tacoma, Washington. It appears that they are considerably above spot for one ounce. They do require postal money orders. I've had no problems with them on my purchases.

They require postal MO prob for a good reason. If one can buy silver coin through a face to face transaction I'd say thats a better proposition than making it notorious that you have a heap of silver coins laying around your home...neighbors and such.

I'm really not concerned about my neighbors, though I understand your general concern. The only concern that I might have is that it can be traced through the postal service. Having said that, that is something I decided to do, knowing it at the time.

I do agree that buying gold and or silver in a face to face encounter is a better situation.
I have not found anyone reasonably close by who would do such a thing. I can think of one good reason why they wouldn't, they more than likely would have to have it on their property to make such a transaction accomodating.

These guys, CNI, are pretty good. http://www.golddealer.com/ I've never had a problem with them, they know their politics too. I was in their office in October of 2002. One of the guys told me the US would invade Iraq before April 15, 2003. Good call.
