FREE CONFERENCE CALLS

Hi All,



One of my 'puter buds has his new software online...



Check out <font color=red>Skype.com[/color]. Skype is for calling other people on their computers or phones. I have it installed and it works great... (you will need speakers and a microphone)



Computer to computer calls are <font color=red>FREE[/color] and computer to <u>any phone</u> is very cheap.



I did a 1 hour PC to PC call from the US to England with no glitches or disconnects. I can't speak for those with a dial up connect, but the performance thru a cable connect is great.



It also allows free PC to PC conference calls of up to four people. If you are economicly challenged, this may be just what you need for those long legal discussions...



There is no phone book, per se, so unless you tell folks your 'handle', your privacy remains intact !



(For those of you that have my email addy.. my handle on Skype is the same as my email addy at hotmail.com)

I use something similar to this called TeamSpeak. You have to install the client software and then log onto a TeamSpeak server. I use a headset /w mic. For dial up, you can use different codecs that take up less bandwidth but some progressively crappier.



The software I use doesn't allow you to call other people on their phone though. Thats called VOIP isn't it? I am still learning about VOIP.



Wow, as far as computer to regular phone goes, Skype offers 2 cents a minute calls to anywhere. Not bad at all.
